Smart friend is not an installation, it is a tech support service that I subscribe to . Only problem is that sometimes the Techs from India are sometimes hard to understand and sometimes they have an agenda that they follow and don't really understand what I am saying.

Copying and pasting does not make the USB stick bootable. The Windows 10 website should give instructions:
Using the tool to create installation media:
- Select Download tool now, and select Run. You need to be an administrator to run this tool.
- If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
- On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10.
- Select which media you want to use:
- USB flash drive. Attach a blank USB flash drive with at least 5GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.
- ISO file. Save an ISO file to your PC, which you can use to create a DVD. After the file is downloaded, you can go to location where the file is saved, or select Open DVD burner, and follow the instructions to burn the file to a DVD. For more info about using an ISO file, see Additional methods for using the ISO file to install Windows 10 section below.
- Make notice of the "Additional methods

I am trying again to create the Windows 10 install disk but when I right click and scroll down it doesn't give me the option to create this as the administrator. I don't see anywhere on there where I can work as the administrator. I am the sole owner of this computer so I would be the administrator.

It might just be me, but I would make the ISO and then burn it to a DVD. I do not know why you are encountering anything that requires being an administrator but right click on whatever it is and then pick "run as Administrator" from the popup menu. BTW: You are mistaken with the comment "I am the sole owner of this computer so I would be the administrator. "

That's what I was saying. I right clicked and scrolled down but there was no option to run as administrator. However in a prior post I was told to run it as the administrator. I don't have a DVD with 5Gigs. As stated in a prior post it said I need at least 5Gigs. MY USB drive has 34 gigs.

I don't know if installing windows from the scandisk will do any good since it has now been confirmed by HP that the problem exists because of a Microsoft update for Windows 10. I would love to know how many people have been affected by this and if they find themselves getting the run around and no acknowledgement that Microsoft caused a problem.

Windows 10, when installed from the M$ download site is a new install the same as if you bought the disk. There are not any problems "because of a Microsoft update for Windows 10." If you do not wish to do it, that is your choice but it will work, despite what SmartFriend told you.

Consider that the issue of no log in window with both of my computers, with two other people who have this problem with their computers makes one wonder. There is a post on the Microsoft community site of another user who has had the same problem. Something has to be wrong. I have HP Smart Friend for both of my computers and a Care package for this computer. My other computer is over 3 yrs old so I couldn't renuew the Care package for that computer. However, with this service I can't get any of the techs to stay on long enough to install the Windows 10 to fix this problem. If this was an issue with a repair needed for the computer I don't think I would have this same problem with both of my computers and for others who are having this problem having the same malfunctioning computers. There has to be a reason that others are having this same problem.

The Microsoft community page is full of posts regarding the issue of Windows 10 update causing the loss of a sign in Window. I finally was able to speak to an American Smart Friend Tech who helped me create a USB install disk.. We did a clean install and so far its working ok with the sign in Window showing up and not crashing when I install my Office app.
Check this out
I posted that if Microsoft isn't addressing this in hopes it will force us to all go out and buy new computers, they better watch out. They could be driving all of their customers to Apple!
