Hello everyone.
Today I noticed that hotkeys Fn+ F8 (mic on/off) and F9/F10 (brightness) don't work. Few days ago I've updated BIOS and software to lastest by HP Softpaq Download Manager. I don't know if it's caused this problem, but it's possible.
Today I reintsalled HP Hotkey Support, but nothing changed.
System : Windows 8.1
Have you got any idea how to reclaim functionality of this hotkeys?
//EDIT: Arrow up and down sometimes work as page up/down...

Enter the BIOS and check to make sure that actionkeys mode is enabled.
If it is not enabled, you have to use the Fn key to make the F1-F12 keys work.

As I write in topic: I use Fn+ F* to use hotkeys. Changing volume (Fn + F6/F7) is working, Fn + F3 also. Problems are with F8-F10. Keys are working if i use them normally, so they are not broken. I tried to turn on actionkeys mode enabled, but it's not working either.

Have you or somene else with access to the notebook inadvertently spilled something on the keyboard?
A sticky substance like sugared tea, coffe or soft drink will cause this sort of thing to happen.

If you want to turn on your mic you have to do this by OS, it's muted or turn off, both things you can change in sound panel (for Windows).
By the way, I'm waiting for another useful advice from HP Experts.
ME: hotkeys Fn+ F8 (mic on/off) and F9/F10 (brightness) don't work
HP Expert: you have to use the Fn key to make the F1-F12 keys work
ME: Problems are with F8-F10. Keys are working if i use them normally, so they are not broken.
HP Expert: A sticky substance like sugared tea, coffe or soft drink will cause this sort of thing to happen.

I also have the same issue. Just started today. My Fn + F8/F9/F10 works but not Shift + F8/F9/F10. The other Shift and Fn keys work. This seems like a super odd problem and also nothing spilled on my laptop.
I can tell the keys are working because my brightness works. But it isn't sending it to another system.
Anyone ever have any resolution on this?
I checked Sticky Keys and it's not enabled.
