Probook 4530s fan noise : DSDT table edition ?

Hi,

unfortunately have the same issue with 4530s.
I recently bought this device. It's really cool laptop, but this fan thing drives me crazy 😞

But thanks God I found this thread, I am not alone with this problem.

I tried your program and it works well for me too, but the fan is not off. 

I noticed my laptop's temperature is 40 - 45 C without loading any hard soft and if I run something harder it raises up to 50 - 52 C . I think there is the problem with temp sensors or something like that. The normal range of temp for this type of CPU should be  30 - 35 C without loading.
So, I would like to ask you to write a new version of yours program when the fan starts buzzing from > 48 C  and everything lesser than < 48 C  the fan is OFF. If the temp more then > 48 C then it starts in a slow mode and so forth.

Did some quick testing to see what the thresholds look like.

I can't get the fan to be at 128 state (the most silent) by itself. I even disabled one core and booted from a cold laptop. After a few seconds of booting windows, temp is 35C and the fan starts at the 82 state. I could not get it under 35C for a few minutes to see if it will drop to 128 or even 255...

Then started prime to see what are the exact temps where it starts to ramp up.

At 50C, we get the first increase in speed. From state 82 goes to state 74.

Enabled second core in bios, as i was wasting time waiting for more heat. At 60C, fan state 74 goes to fan state 65.

At 70C, fan state 64 jumps to fan state 59.

And finally,  at 80C, fan state 59 goes to fan state 49.

I had to put TPFC in bios mode to get 128 state and block the vent with my hand for 30 seconds or so to get it to 80C. DSDT takes over once manual mode is selected and fan state 49 was set. Temp dropped fast as it was breathing well.

The drop points are like this:

-80C - fan state is 49

- Drop to 70C ---> fan state 59
- Drop to 60C ---> fan state 65
- Drop to 50C ---> fan state 74
- Drop to 40C ---> fan state 82

That is that.

Now if only there would be a way to just change the temps at which a fan state gets activated....

Trouble is i haven't seen the 128 state activated ever by the DSDT. I just have to put TPFC in bios mode and 128 state is locked in.

Where do we go from here?

I already verified dsdt and EC registers. It's the same family like Probook 6465B and 4535S it currently supports. I cannot register and ask to add 4530S support because site rejects my email address.

I notice that the actual text in the fan control app being discussed on the German language forum is in English so that using the app day to day would not be a problem so long as it actually works successfully in controlling the fan behaviour on the Probook 4x30 series models.

Has anyone tried this so far and if so what has been their experience?

I have probook 4530s.

It says :

"You notebook is not supported. The application will be closed."

I just found the fan off temp.

It's 31C. Once the temp drops to 31C, the fan will be off and will turn on at 40C.

Isn't the problem with your last comment (about the fan turn on temp) that all the Probook 4x30 series models run at a temp above 40C internally within a couple of minutes of powering the units up from cold,

Yes, obviously the fan will never reach 31C under normal circumstances. I just had to test and find what the hp person decided was the threshold for fan off.

I have contacted the person at computerbase.de and provided all the relevant info. Will post here any updates.

On Windows 7 SP1 doesent work. I am with HP ProBook 4730s
