Probook 6460b
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Just bought a refurbished probook 6460b with Win 7. It refuses to boot from dvd drive. I've tried everything. usb/cd is enabled in the bios. Seems like Secure Boot might be blooking it but I cant find anywhere Secure Boot even comes up in the bios, say nothing about enable/diabling it.

Hi:

Secure boot is N/A to your notebook.

See if this works...

Boot up the notebook and at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the F9 boot options menu and select the DVD drive (or it may be listed as upgrade bay/multibay) and hit the enter key.

Tried it. DVD drive doesn't show. "Notebook Upgrade Bay" just dumps me straight into Windows and ignores the dvd.

Didn't think it had Secure Boot but there is a UEFI Boot Mode Option, and a UEFI Boot Order under it that had me confused. Under Legacy Boot Order I have USB CD-Rom as 1st, Notenook Upgrade Bay as 2nd, and the hdd as third.

Sorry that didn't work.

The only other suggestion I can offer would be to try a hard reset of the notebook.

Here are the steps for performing a hard reset.

If that doesn't work, I would say there is a hardware issue of some kind.

Tried it, didn't work. I've also tried with both the internal dvd, and a usb dvd. Both units play music cd's, and dvds without a problem, but both are seemingly ignored during boot up.
