Hey guys,
For a little while now, I have had green and purple dots come all over the screen. It randomly started happening and wasn't a cause of throwing it or anything. They come onto the screen, stay a while, disppear briefly and come back again. If it tap the keyboard area beside the mouse pad it makes them disppear for a little while.
I also have a line of white pixels from top to bottom on the left side of my screen, maybe a little over two inches in from the side. I called HP not long ago but they didn't really help me.
I cannot screenshot them so I'm thinking its a physical problem and not in the graphics software of the display.
Anyone got any ideas??? I'm over it!!
Thanks,
Ben

Hi @Benjamin95 ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community! I hope your enjoy your experience with us.
I saw your post regarding the purple/green dots and the white line. I will be happy to help. Yes, this could be a hardware issue. We can confirm that by connecting your notebook to an external monitor. If they don't show up there then we know it is an issue with the display screen. It they do show up it could be either a graphics card issue or software.
What is your product number? There are a number of models in the dv6 series.

Hello.
I would first run the HP diagnostic tool by pressing F2 after turning on the unit. First try the long memory test. If it passes, than it will be the mainboard. If it fails try contactspraying the memories. The memory in the DV6, if I remember well, is right where you applied the pressure.
