Thank you so much chemicalrage for this fix.
I have Pavilion g6 2006tx and I was searching on this from like a month and finally found solution, thanks a lot. 🙂
Please note, after installing and restarting it didn't worked directly so i was disappointed but i just turned bluetooth off and again on from Wireless(Windows Charm) and then onwards it started working perfectly 🙂

Dude how did it work for you?? Like u said.. i turned off then back on again to get the bluetooth settings work.
I can see that the bluetooth detects other devices and can pair up with them. It also loads n installs other useful services that can be worked out depending on the device when paired.
Now my problem is.. I can't send any file nor the device can send one to me. In the device it would mention that the service failed. Almost the same thing would appear when I'm sending a file from my laptop to that device.
If u know how to solve can you please help me.. as i see that we have got a discontinued ralink product which is also an old version of bluetooth being 3.0 and these ppl have been busy lately spending their time upon improving other products. Infact they have a newer version of bluetooth 4.0 + HS adapter and provided win 8 driver for it. From this i can tell u that even in the near future we won't be having a 100% working driver from the original manufacturer. The only i can use bluetooth flawless on my windows 8 pc is to change the so called ralink bc8 bluetooth chip to any other compatible chip such as broadcom bluetooth and pay the necessary expenses for it at the service center which i think i'm not going to do so.. because I live in India and there's not much customization to opt for. Another reason is I kinda hate the service center ppl and that i'm pretty unsure about my laptop coming back safe without brining any more new problems.
The intel driver which i have downloaded is the 64-bit version, seems like the latest one.. but it doesn't matter as long as it works.. and it's chiefly for the intel centrino bluetooth 4.0 + HS . I can tell this clearly with an option to show notifications for high speed switch from the bluetooth settings. But our model only supports till 3.0 doesn't that hamper with the data transfer which i do? IF everything works for you please guide me how i can effectively transfer data to and fro between my devices with this or the same driver what u are using right now.

cwt23 ... did file transfers work for you? I know that the bluetooth can be turned on and off now... but i don't find a good interface for it with all the available options to send and receive files. But there is an entry i could find for sending files and that doesn't happen due to failed service on my phone and the laptop also can't send files.
Can u explain a bit about to get it to work?

I used the next driver in my Pavilion dm1 3265lat http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?lang=en&cc=us&sp4ts....
after intall and reboot, you can pair your phone without any problem, for transfer files between your phone and PC use the transfer wizzard in the bluetooth tray icon:
For transfer file from phone to PC (laptop)
(pair the phone and pc is not required)
1.- Right click Bluetooth tray icon.
2.- Select Receive File
3.- Send file from your phone, select the name of your pc
4.- Browse the location where you can save the file in your pc and save it.
if an error occurred, try to unpair your phone and repeat the steps above.
For transfer file from pc to phone
1.-Pair your phone and pc.
2.- Right click Bluetooth tray icon.
3.- Select Send File
4.- Select the Icon of your phone.
4.- Browse the location of your file, select it
5.- Click Finish...
Tested with a HP pavilion dm1 3265lat, Nokia Lumia 520 and a Nokia 5530 Express Music, Greeting from México!!

Try uninstalling any previous driver, and remove it from device manager, reboot, wait from default Windows driver (generic Bluetooth device), install it: http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?lang=en&cc=us&sp4ts....
and follow the steps in my previous post... Good Luck!!!
