lately, my hp envy m6 1200sg keeps dropping from wifi or it gives me a "limited" connection every 5 to 10 min. and sometimes it never detect any network, you can imagine how nerve racking this can be. I'm sure nothing wrong with the router 'cause all my other devices are working perfectly.

The network driver I used is Ralink RT3290 802.11bng WiFi adapdeter (manufacturer version 5.0.37.0 Date: 2013-12-23), I changed the powerplan options, deleted and reinstalled the driver again but  the problem is still the same, I'm wondering is this driver is the right one? or could it be that the actual Ralink wireless card itself is bad?

Many thanks in advance and best regards

Hi:

See if the latest driver directly from Mediatek works better.

Those cards have major connection issues, so if the newer driver doesn't help any, I don't know of any other things you can do other than to get a different brand wireless card listed in the service manual for your notebook.  And if there is one, it must also have the HP part number on it or it will not work.

Please find this new post I created with possible resolutions to many issues I had with this card, now all solved:

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Wireless-Internet-Home-Networking/Ralink-RT3290-802-11bgn-Wifi-Card-Pos...

Also if connectivity is dropping time to time, I woiuld recommend to disable "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" under Power managent of the card, see point 2 of this post:
