Unfortunately the link provide by the OP is now useless and i have tried everything I could on my HP Envy laptop for a stable wifi. Usually, I would have to be pretty close to the router and when I'm not, the laptop would at first attempt to search for the wifi before shutting down wifi completely, indicated by the white wifi indicator turning from white to orange, before turning it back on without actually connecting to anything. And yes, my laptop does appear to have a ralink as well...

My Envy laptop uses a Mediatek 5.057.0 driver dated 5/18/2015. Works fine, no problems

I see. Do you by any chance have a link for the drivers? Anything to make my laptop's wifi more stable...
