HP Pavilion Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
So I got a new hard drive, made a clean install for Windows 10, put it into the computer but when I got to the part where it asks you to choose whether to do a custom install or the upgrade install to keep your date it says the text "The computer started using Windows installation media. Remove the installation media and restart your computer so that Windows start normally. Then, insert the installation media and restart the upgrade. [Do not select Custom (advanced) to perform an upgrade. Custom (advanced) installs a new copy of Windows and deletes your programs and settings.]" I'm not really sure what to do at this point and also whether or not it's possible it would let me do the upgrade with the new hard drive

@blake2704

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand you need assistance with booting into the windows and information about the upgrade to win10,

I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:

What is the product number of your product? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/rs-en/document/c03754824

(Do not share any personal information such as serial number, email ID, phone number or address on a public forum for your safety).

Have you attempted any steps on your own before posting on the HP Forums?

Which operating system was supplied with the HP computer?

Please reply with the details for further assistance.

While you answer my queries, I must let you know that HP Doesn't support in upgrading or downgrading the OS using a retail version of windows, Linux or otherwise.

HP only supports updates.

That said, I'm Eager to read your perspective and the information I've asked for.

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accepted Solution.

And click on the Purple Thumbs up icon at the bottom of my comment.
