Just to let other people know incase they experience a similar issue.
What seemed to work for me was to do a CMOS reset. I followed the instrucitons from the manual (you have to skip around within the document to get the sequence of what to remove) but that seemed to do the trick.

As soon as I put everything back together, the machine booted straight into OS. Happy days 🙂
