Hey,

I know this has been posted a million times, but it for some reason hasn't been posted for my specific HP laptop model.  I have a G6-2288CA.  I've upgraded from windows 8 to windows 7 because I can't stand windows 8.

I realize that HP has no obligation to help me find windows 7 drivers for this, but it would still be really nice.

Anyway, in my device manager I have:

SM Bush Controller

Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller

Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller

All with errors.

Here are the hardware IDs:

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_780B&SUBSYS_1849103C&REV_14

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_780B&SUBSYS_1849103C

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_780B&CC_0C0500

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_780B&CC_0C05

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_7812&SUBSYS_1849103C&REV_03

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_7812&SUBSYS_1849103C

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_7812&CC_0C0330

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_7812&CC_0C03

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_7812&SUBSYS_1849103C&REV_03

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_7812&SUBSYS_1849103C

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_7812&CC_0C0330

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_7812&CC_0C03

I've scoured the forums and tried every driver that has been posted for this.  I've installed the AMD catalyst suite as well, and it all looks to be working fine.

I'm on Win 7 64 bit.

I figure there has to be drivers for another laptop that are compatible with this one for Win 7.  Thanks in advance.

David, thanks for the quick reply!

I guess this version worked!  I had tried this before and it didn't work.

The USB parts dropped off the device manager list and now all my USB ports work, but SM Bus controller is still there.  I don't know what that does, but I might be able to live with it.

Thanks man!

Hi,

Note:  I've just edit this after seeing your updated post :generic:

Try extracing the installer using 7-Zip ( right click the installer, select 7-Zip and select Extract Files ).

When done, open Device Manager and try manually updating by browsing to the extracted folder, $_OUTDIR\Packages\Drivers\SBDrv

The drivers you need should then be found in the SMBus folder.

Restart the notebook after this.

Regards,
