Yes but forcing a hard shut down on your laptop is not really good in the long run!

Hi,

My solution (working fix !!!!)

My computer Pavilion x360

1. Uninstall graphics drivers - recomended - Display Driver Uninstaller DDU or on the desktop right-click on My Computer and select Properties. Click the Device Manager button.  Find graphic card - click DRIVER and in the properties dialog box, click the Roll Back Driver button

2. Restart

3. do not install updates from WINDOWS - Update called "Intel Corporation - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3, Graphics Adapter WDDM 2.0 - Intel(R) HD Graphics Family" is waiting for install - DO NOT INSTALL THIS.

4. Go to https://downloadcenter.intel.com find your card driver for Windows 10  - My is - "

Intel® Iris™, Iris™ Pro, and HD Graphics Production Driver for Windows® 10 64-bit"

5. Download - install

6. All Sleep and Shutdown options work again.

*to detect your card - try  GPU-Z or find in your computer dxdiag

This is all well and good for people with some knowledge of computers... but not great for people that really do not have a clue.

I've just noticed that new drivers have been uploaded to the website as of today, supposedly compatable with my laptop and Windows 10, even though the support assistant isn't showing any available yet. But I'm going to install them now and see how it go's.

Not sure where you are looking but on the HP website there are no specfic drivers for Windows 10, they have not made any!

Yes.  Understood.  I do not shut down.  I close the lid and go to bed.  If the system dies (battery) then it dies. Not much else to do at this time.  I am tired of trying this fix and that fix and the other fix.  All that does is create stress and make me want to go to sleep. 🙂

I was also in the same confusion that if i revert back to windows 8.1. Will i be able again to upgrade to windows 10 down the road ? I Called HP customer care and they said you could totally do that.

I would like to tell you a solution which worked for me.

Go to power option>>change plan setting>change advance power settings>> processor power management>>minimum processor state>>on battery : 100%, on power:100%

It worked and now it can go to sleep. See if it works for u too.

Are we accountable for doing manual upgrades and as novices (or at least me) finding the correct one for our system????

I thought this was part of our automatic updates

The power option advised 2 posts above apparently only works if your computer is on for less than a hour and is not good in the long run

That has been tried with limited success.  It will work for an indeterminate period of time,  BUT it will eventually fail.  It is a DRIVER issue pure and simple.  Until that updated driver (probably video) comes out for Win 10 either from Windows Update or through HP Assistant you will search in vain, change settings in vain, disable this and disable that...all in vain.

Yeah I just realised their all old drivers that it's telling me to install. I really don't understand that though. The support assistant said there wasn't any available, but the website scanned my system and pulled up 5 or 6 drivers I could download, which I did. But when I've checked, their all old drivers anyways. And I manually updated them all this morning through device manager, so I don't understand why the website brought those up. They definitely weren't there yesterday!

I'm done trying to fix this myself though. I want an official update from HP on the matter!

I've been inactive for a little while on this thread...so to my understanding we still have no perm fix to this issue, correct?
