I just reverted back but now the desktop doesn't come up!  I can press control alt delete and that menu popps up and i can shut down and restart and open task manager and there is a cursor that moves around.  Thats all.  Any suggestions?  I'll probably call HP in a minute actually

Is HP listening. this is problem is getting worse. Is there any time frame to fix this issue.

Exactly, HP don't seem to be listening. There's no articles covering this problem, and there doesn't seem to be very many post from other people on different webpages who seem to have these problems. It's like it's being swept under the rug.

How many people do you think are experiencing these problems? Hundreds? Thousands? Everyone who uses a HP laptop?

I've been browsing here, reddit, 4chan (yep, people still go there), and the microsoft forums to search for this issue, but mainly this thread has been the biggest on the issue. The next biggest I've seen is the microsoft forums that sadly don't have as many people debunking "possible" solutions as they do here. On the other sites I listed, you basically have to search for threads of people asking if anyone else has had an issue. On reddit, there's usually a thread here and there with people giving their situation and with some solution they've tried that they say either works or found out doesn't work.

As the update has been rolling out, I've been seeing more and more people on all the sites I've listed reach that agreement that pretty much any solution that isn't a direct update from Microsoft, HP, or Intel will not work long term. On the microsoft forums, I've been seeing people start to do what you guys are doing here, which is revert back to Windows 8.1. For me, I think I'll ride this one out and continue to hard reset my device while hoping to receive that holy grail update that fixes everything.

It kind of does suck that something as crucial as this wasn't found in the beta, but nothing can be perfect. It probably doesn't matter to people who have the issue on desktops since desktops are known to always be on, but for laptops, I'm not really sure. Possibly doing all of these hard resets will degrade my battery in some fashion, but hopefully it won't be too long until the update comes...

Unfortunately my laptop even after a hard shutdown will discharge. It is night discharges to 0% and is only activated when you connect to the network.

It does not work sleep and hibernation, the computer freezes.

Windows 10 for me it is very frustrating.

Hey guys try this out and let me know if it helped you like it did me. Go to power options. Then click choose what happens when i press the power button. Afterword click on the sentence that says: "change setting that are currently unavailable". After that some check boxes towards the bottom become available, disable turn on fast start (recommended). Problems went away for me and everything works good now! Make sure you have it set that it requires a password if you want it to, mine reset it so i had to re check that box! Good luck!

Hey update, it seems if you do have a password it will not put it into sleep mode. Just fyi

My laptop had the same problem, but now it's been able to hibernate and shut down. This is what I did:

> Type "Check for updates" in the "Search the web and Windows".

>In the new window, check updates under Windows Update.

> Some updates will show up. Click Restart Now to restart your laptop.

This worked for me! Hope this helps!

I had checked on HP site for Windows 10 drivers, and it said something about hp not having the drivers yet and checking windows for updates

when i called HP customer care, they gave me this solution.

Yes it seemed to work for a couple of days but the sleep and shut down problem still persists.

Very depressing and frustrating !!

HP r u looking at these ????
