@Puerco020 wrote:I didn't disable any windows updates or driver upgrades, I just installed 9.5.24.1790 from the HP website under 8.1 drivers and in device manager clicked update driver / search my computer / let me choose and selected this 9.5.24.1790 (was 11.0.0.1124) and it stays that way through reboots/ windows update etc.
It works like this also for me. No automatic updates for now. It's stuck with the 9.xxx version

@DatEnvy: Thanks for posting the walkthrough, but FWIW on my device the roll back option was unavailable. I needed to uninstall, restart, pause Windows Update, download and install v9, block updates to the IME driver, and resume Windows Update in order to apply this fix.
Will post a step-by-step walkthrough of what I did in the next couple days if it continues to resolve the sleep/shut down issue!
I couldn't even find the IME in my device manager. I had to go to HP and download and install it, but once it did, this laptop has been operating like it's supposed to. I had it on all yesterday performing all kinds of sleep tests on it, which it passed. I closed the lid last night, and it slept like it was suppsoed to, but when I woke up, I noticed that the light on the power button was off. So, I opened it up and hit the power button, it woke right up. Must have gone into hibernate, which is weird because I never had the laptop go into hibernation before when I was on 8.1 So when installing the old driver, it must have some kind of setting that makes the computer go into hibernate after a period of time in sleep (which is fine by me). So, I am willing to state that rolling back the IME driver is indeed the solution here. Now, hopefully someone has actually informed HP and MS that this is the smoking gun and they can issue the proper patch.
Thank god the nightmare is over (at least for me). Thanks everyone for your help! Also, TC if you're reading this, please ammend your opening post, if you haven't already done so, with this solution.
Have e great day, guys!

I've been folliwing this thread for a few weeks now and can confirm that the solution first reported by Yorkie24 (pg 23 comment 227) and promoted by Sat3rn works.
I have an HP Pavilion 15 with Intel Core i5 processor. Interestingly enough however, I do not have the latest BIOS version. These are the steps I took:
1. Reverted back to WIndows 8.1 (Settings > Update & Security > Recovery); at this point I had:
- BIOS version Insyde F.09 8/4/2014
- Intel HD Graphics Driver 10.18.10.3496
2. Used Windows Update to update Windows 8.1 (do install Windows 10); after installing Windows updates I had the same BIOS and Graphics driver versions above.
3. Used HP Support Assistant to find updates (including a BIOS update); after installing HP updates I had the following:
- BIOS version Insyde F.34 12/19/2014
- Intel HD Graphics Driver 10.18.10.3574
4. After there were no more Windows/HP updates I used the Media Creation Tool from the Windows website to "Upgrade to Windows 10." I did not do this through Windows Update or the Windows tile in the toolbar.
5. Once back with Windows 10, I installed other Windows/HP updates; after this I had:
- BIOS version Insyde F.34 12/19/2014 (I still do not have F.42 and therefore am not convinced that a BIOS update is neccesary; however, it is important to install using Media Creation Tool.)
- Intel HD Graphics Driver 10.18.15.4256
Anyway, thanks all for sorting through this and helping find a solution. My computer sleeps and shuts down without any problems.
EDIT: I have version 9.5.24.1790 on my Intel Managment Engine Interface after completing the above steps.

This has worked for me too but has brought about a few other issues in the process. I'm guessing their just more Windows 10 problems that hopefully be resolved in due course. But the noticeable ones are my Coolsense. It wasn't in my taskbar no more and I realised it wasn't working. I had to uninstall it along with the HP framework, then restart and re-install which has got it working again to an extent. The icon is there and I can switch on and off, but auto is no longer an option, when it is set to auto, the icon says it is switched off, instead of showing the auto icon. I've been on to HP chat about this and I have been told it's an issue that's being worked on.
The other issue I have is there's a small noise when I shut down or restart. Similar to the popping sound I was getting when doing a hard shut down, but not as loud or severe, it's almost like a "buzz" noise, but it was never there on 8.1.
But everything else "seems" to be working ok and I'm not having any problems with going into sleep or shutting down.
Has anyone else with an HP Paviliion having similar issues?

Wow!! Okay, I checked my IMEI version this morining, and it was the v.11xx, so I downloaded the last version for my model on HP's site, which was v.9xx, installed it and proceeded to use my machine as normal - about amillion browser tabs, multiple programs running, audio and video, etc. Every other solution after about a half hour I couldn't get it into sleep mode.
It's now been six hours since I downgraded the driver, of non-stop use, and I was able to put it to sleep! And wake it up! Whoever suggested this, you are my new hero (I can't remember now which person this one came from). I'll keep using it for the next couple of days to see if the fix holds, but thus far reverting this driver seems to have done the trick for me!
I have an Envy 15 x360, just past a year old (by about a month, so I'm out of warrenty), for anyone wondering.

I've got an Envy 15t-k00 CT0 Notebook, product # G0T57AV.
Tried searching the HP site for drivers for Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 and all I get is - "We were unable to retrieve the list of drivers for your product. Please select the desired operating system and select “Update” to try again".
My current IMEI driver is 11.0.0.1146. Any idea where I can find the down grade?
