My question is how do you make all these changes if it would wake up?? What brain cells am I missing for this process.
Many thanks in advance,

Sleep Mode/Restart issue “Solved”
At least on my HP Envy
It is “Not” an “HP” issue, or a “Microsoft” issue, neither is it an “Intel” Issue.
Yes, people have been rolling back Intel drivers and reporting success.
However, some of us with older computers do not have the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI), so no drivers to roll back, others are using AMD processors.
We all have different Graphic cards.
"To those who state it is a graphic driver problem, and/or the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver should be aware that it is NOT the solution for every notebook model."
I have been on Windows 10 since early spring, had no issues at all and was delighted with the software till Mid July update.
Then I started to experience the dreaded Sleep and restart issues. I tried all the suggestions that my computer would allow. Saw what I thought was success for a short while and then back to the drawing board.
However, one thing I did note, that my computer worked fine after a restart for a short time before the sleep issues resurfaced.
However, whenever I did a restart it took forever, well let’s say 2-3 minutes. In frustration sometimes I would just do a hard shutdown. But then I became more patient and started to end up with a Blue Screen which read “DRIVE POWER STATE FAILURE”. On investigation I found out that that indicates I have a “Driver issue”.
I had updated all my drivers, well Windows actually did it automatically. So what gives?
I checked Device Manager carefully, nope nothing showing driver issues.
But the issues persisted and the Blue Screen continued to show up, every so often during a restart.
So I started to check what else it could be.
I knew it was a driver, but which one?
Well in my case it was the “Seagate Backup software”. I disabled it. (Windows 10 has its own backup software”. In your case it could be some other software you have running that is incompatible with Win 10. Sorry I can’t tell you which one. All the other suggested fixes probably apply a Band-Aid, stopping the software from running in the background.
No I am not a computer expert, only started using an IBM Pc in 1983. So just a novice.
Problem Solved! Been one week, I keep putting the computer to sleep just to see it snooze and wake it up. Almost instantaneous. Restarts are quick.
One happy camper.

Unless you're comfortable applying the steps outlined in this thread to roll back and disable updates to the MEI driver, I'd recommend waiting; HP still has not officially resolved the problem.

Dan, I must respectfully disagree with you. As already stated numerious times the" MEI driver rollback is not the solution", it is a Band-Aid.
A lot of us do not have this feature and many do not have Intel processors. Yet suffered this Sleep related issue.
The real problem is Software conflict or driver issues.
Windows does update drivers automatically, but not all of them. My Seagate Backup Software was causing my issue. removal imediately solved the problem. Windoes has its own very capable backup feature. I also noticed that the Netgear Genie Software does not update automatically.
Others probably have software on their computers running in the background that either needs drivers updated or are conflicting with Windows 10.
Rolling back drivers and disabling updates is really a very bad idea.
Yes it has resolved issues by masking the real causes
"As this is Not an HP issue, I doubt that they will be coming out with a resolution other then what they are already recomending. Update all drivers, look for software conflicts".
Again no offense to you.

You're generally correct that the sleep/shutdown hangup issue is caused by a driver incompatibility with Windows 10.
For the vast majority of HP Pavilion and Envy laptop users, that incompatibility is with version 11 of the MEI driver. Those users can follow the steps I posted to roll back to v9 or v10 of the driver (provided directly from HP on their support site), use the Show or Hide Updates Troubleshooter (provided directly from Microsoft on their support site) to block v11 from automatically updating itself, and permanently resolve the issue (until v12 comes along and hopefully addresses it once and for all).
You're also correct that rolling back drivers and software is generally not advisable... but in this case, when one particular faulty driver has been linked to a serious issue for such a large number of users, and older versions of that driver have been confirmed to function properly, it is an acceptable route to go.
HP sells hundreds of different models and sub-models of laptops and desktops, and some of them -- like yours -- are experiencing a similar issue that could be caused by a different faulty driver. Thanks for sharing info about the driver you were able to identify was causing the issue on your model. I'm sure it will be helpful for others who are experiencing the issue and cannot attribute it to the MEI driver.

I tried several solutions such as updating Intel HD graphics driver and downgrading MEI, always with temporary results. Sleep issues invariably crawled back in. The following resolved the problem definitevely: update drivers through HPs drivers and downloads page. My laptop is an HP Pavilion 15-p000 CTO Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)
1. Go to http://www8.hp.com/us/en/drivers.html
2. Click the "Find now" button. I used the HP support solutions framework (http://hp-support-solutions-framework.software.informer.com/download/) which allows the support page to automatically detect your model and offer the latest drivers.
3. Download and install all suggested drivers sequentially, restarting the system as required.
All sleep/wake triggers are functioning perfectly - closing lid, sleep from the start menu, and sleep from the power button.
This problem was driving (no pun intended) me crazy and I'm relieved to say it looks fully resolved. I'll post any updates if the problem creeps back again.

Just the opposite with my ENVY 15t-k000 CTO Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR).
Rolling back the IMEI had been working but I took a shot at checking for driver updates again. Checking at http://www8.hp.com/us/en/drivers.html and using your instructions, did find and update a couple of drivers but the shutdown bug returned.
Rolling back the IMEI driver has corrected the problem again. For now, this is the only proposed solution that has worked for me.
