In case anyone wants to do a CLEAN install of Win10 over their existing Win 10 (boot from CD) be sure your machine is permanently registered:

Command Prompt: slmgr /xpr

If it is, you will get a notification.

This is important because during the CLEAN installation you will be asked for a KEY -- click SKIP and move along.  It will work fine.

Well this is interesting! I've been searching all night for ways to fix my wifi drivers, and while I'm searching a box pops up from Microsoft asking if I would recommend Windows 10 to a friend and what rating I'd give and why. Obviously I thought this was comical and although it will more than likely be overlooked I thought I'd fill it in anyways explaining all my problems with sleep / shutdown, my mail and calendar apps no longer working after the cumulative update and now my wifi fluctuating.

The next thing is, I run a speed test and it comes back solid? Even though I've done nothing. Then the next thing I notice is that my mail app is open (even though I never opened it), but not only that, it's working fine! So I check my calendar app and that's working fine too! I'm not checking the sleep / shutdown one just yet though lol.

Well I reverted back to windows 8.1. The sleep issues are fine for now but I have a bigger problem...I can't even log into my account to actually use the computer. It is on the lock screen and whenever I type in the correct password the screen will flicker blue for a sec and go right back to the login screen. I don't know what to do now and this problem is even worse. So don't revert back to 8.1, it has screwed me over. Do any of you know how to fix this?

OK from what I saw there's an update and restart, I clicked that and pray it works. I'll report if it does or doesn't

Still no fix found? This is still so annoying, it's been a fortnight now. I'm really worried I'm damaging my computer.

Also does anyone know how to quote on this forum?

I have recovery discs that I had burned off when I got this piece of **bleep** last November. How do I use those when I can't login to the computer? How do I run them in the HP load up thing? Please help 😞

They say to use F11 while it loads up but nothing pops up

Try a different button, DEL or F2, they've started changing it with different laptops now I think.

Lol this is so embarrassing but I had was hitting FN + F10 instead of F11. I am now doing a system recovery since I was unable to log into my account after reverting. (Didn't back up a single thing). It was really odd. It had the login layout as windows 8.1 but when I had typed in my password
It would flicker blue like the color i had set on windows 10. Its just..really weird. I'm sad that I'm losing EVERYTHING I had installed over the year (all my games, Sims Downloads, photos, ect) but I'm just really glad this sleep issue is over and now I can not worry as much. So I'll be getting windows 10 a few more months down the road and never upgradig it through the icon (just to be safe)

Also sorry for the spam of messages
