Product: Pavillion
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Turned laptop on to find message 'Selected boot image did not Authenticate. Press Enter to continue'.  At this point it just switches off.  Have tried removing battery and no other keys work.  Any advice please?

HP has been making "Pavilions" since the 90s so you gotta let us know the model of the laptop if we are going to help you. 

 

Just from what you have said so far I suspect a bad hard drive.
