Your product ID is faulty...try again!

All of the instructions worked for me as well. I had the same problem. I am installing WIN 07 on a brannew HD for a laptop Compaq CQ45. Yes indeed you can't use the key numbers on top, however you can attache a wire keyboard and use the numbers key pad. That will do the trick. Please add this to your instructions for those using your trick on laptops.

Thanks again!

Hiya. There's no trick, you either have purchased an authentic Microsoft key valid for any computer you load it on, or OEM key which is specific for the computer you bought...which can't be transfered to another laptop.

good luck

Hi!  I done everything and when I finished the screen said the same message.  I tried 4 times.  What else should I be doing?  I can't reboot or reset, nothing

Hiya,

can you give more info on your problem

HP Recommended

I just had the same problem when starting my computer. Instead of hitting OK, I turned it off and restarted and it worked.  Wondering if it will happen again and if I should change the BIOS to legacy boot.  I have Windows 10 and don't have a boot disc in case I mess something up.

Change your bios to legacy boot and you should not have any problems.
