Hey Dan. Honestly , I've tried everything and I'm still infected. Don't know what to do now, the only option ofr me is to reset my laptop from the beginning

If the downgrade to your MEI fails, do not get discourage check the device manager go to system devices scroll through until you see the MEI device. double click to open properties go to driver and you should notice the driver date and version of the driver has changed to the specified driver.

Did you set the Windows Update service to Manual (not Automatic or Disabled) and then install v9 or v10 of the MEI driver?

If it's set to Automatic, your system may have already automatically "upgraded" you back to the faulty v11.

If it's set to Disabled, you won't be able to block the update with the troubleshooter.

If you have v9 or v10 installed and the Windows Update service on Manual, you should be able to block automatic updates to that driver.

If you look in Device Manager or Programs and Features, which version of the MEI driver is listed?

I cannot find the MEI driver when I'm trying to hide the updates.

Hello,

my OS is in Czech I'm sorry for it, but you can see, that my version of MEI is 9 and Windows update is set to manualy.

I can't see any resons why I can't hide this update.config.png

If you've got MEI driver v9 installed with the Windows Update service set to Manual and the Show or Hide Updates Troubleshooter isn't listing the MEI driver, I wouldn't worry about it...  If Windows isn't seeing that update available, it shouldn't automatically install it either.

I'd just proceed with the rest of the steps and keep an eye on it.  If the problem resurfaces, it's almost certainly because v11 was automatically reinstalled, in which case you could try repeating the process.

Hello again DanG

My Windows became corrupted and I got my IT exspert to reinstall Windows 10. Immediately all the old problems with sleep, shut dowmn and waking reappeared. So I did your original step-by-step instruction to revert to IMEI V9 and everything is sweet again. thanks.

Glad to hear it worked for you!

Hello!

Updates are set again to automatic and the version of MEI is still 9, so it looks like this is working without hiding this update. Thank you for your quick responses. I am happy with my shutdown again.

Best regards
