Hi,
is there any way to switch the FN & CTRL keys on the HP 840 Ultrabook?
I'm very used to having FN left of CTRL instead of CTRL left of FN.
Thinkpads allow you to switch this in the BIOS setting, but I can't find any setting for this on the HP.
While there is a "Fn key switch" option in the BIOS (with no help text!), it does something completely different (a not well documented accessibility option making it so you don't have to keep holding FN down before hitting F1-F12-key).
Thanks!
P.S. I'm also running Linux so I can't use any Windows tools for this.

Hello @ranma42
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since the HP EliteBook 840 UltraBook is a commercial product. You can do this here Notebook - HP ProBook, EliteBook, Compaq, Slate/Tablet PC, Armada, LTE
The support page for your product may be helpful in the meantime: HP EliteBook 840 G1 Notebook PC.
I hope this helps!
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

I have an HP 15 Envy x360 and I'm running Linux. I'm a programmer and I use ctrl key alot and want to swap FN and CTRL keys, but it appears that the FN key is magical and isn't available to the OS. As mentioned the Lenovo Thinkpads have a BIOS capability to switch them. In the my Envy BIOS there is the capability of swapping whether FN is for F1-F12 or for the media keys. This is good, but please add a feature to be able to swap FN and CTRL!
