I am trying to restore my laptop to factory settings with the help of Recovery Discs created by me. The recovery hangs after 30 minutes and into second recovery disc while giving a message "there is no disc at the destination". All further tries are unsuccessfull. Please guide to execute full system restore to factory settings as i plan to sell my laptop.

Hello;
Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
There are a couple of different possibilities here. First, the recovery disks might have flaws, and that would prevent them from working. Second, the hard drive might have problems, and that would prevent the recovery from continuing.
As to the first, you can visually inspect the disks for scratches or other marks to see if there are problems.
As to the second, when you reboot your laptop, press the Esc key repeatedly until you see the HP utilities menu. Then, when that is on screen, press the entry to run hard drive diagnostics. That will tell you if there are problems with the hard drive.
Good Luck

Thanks for a prompt reply.
Some additional information.
- The hard disc was replaced due to the original having crashed/malfunctioned.
- i ran the dioganastic and the hard disc is good to go.
- no, the recovery discs are clean and functional.
Please provide more help.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but there is nothing we can do from here to recover your PC.
If the recovery disks do not work, and the hard drive checks out OK, then there must be something wrong with the disks -- and your only recourse in that situation is to contact HP Customer Support to order new disks.
If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1
If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html
NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!
If you have trouble finding a phone number, then try: 1 (800) 474-6836

However, HP Customer Support is generally not available on the weekends, so you might have to wait until Monday to contact them.
