HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I want to perform a clean install on my laptop, but when I launch the HP Recovery Manager, the 'system recover' option is greyed out, aka disabled. It contains a message: (disabled: recovery partition is deleted).

At least I think that is it, cause it seems like a bad translation from English to Dutch.

Does anyone know how I can perform a clean install? Preferably I'd like the 'minimal recovery of installation' copy, as I want as little stuff to remain as possible. I've already made back-ups and put them on the cloud, so no worries there.

When I go to the 'computer management' window -> storage -> Disc management, there are several volumes, a C and G virtual disc included. There's also a Recovery volume, though I can't seem to do anything with it. I can't 'reactivate' it, that's greyed out as well.

Hello @GillesDV,

Thank you for the quick reply!

If that area is grayed out, then perhaps the Recovery Partitions were deleted?  If that is the case, then the only way to recovery the notebook would be through using Recovery Media.  Unfortunately, there are no Recovery Media options available for your product on the HP site.  If you are able to obtain a Windows 7 or Windows 8 disc, you should be able to use that to recover the notebook.  You can also try to clean install Windows 10.  You can use the following resource to help you, if needed: How to Clean Install Windows 10 (Not an HP supported Web site).

I hope this helps.

Have a great weekend!
