Hi,

Until recently the touch screen on the machine was working. I've gone to try and use it again today but for some reason it's now stopped working.

I've updated and checked everything I can think of - the device manager is showing everything is working correctly and I am using Windows 8.1,

Any thoughts on how I can reactivate the touch screen?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi stevestreet71, welcome to the HP Forums. Has the TouchScreen worked at any point when you have had Windows 8.1 installed? Does the device manager have an entry for the TouchScreen device, it might be listed as 'Voltron'?

I will be refer to this document for my next troubleshooting steps: Touch and pen settings: FAQ

It is worth noting, this statement in that document: "If you have a touchscreen, touch input is on by default and can’t be turned off. If you expect your laptop or monitor to respond to touch and it doesn’t, check the manufacture’s website to make sure it supports touch and that you have the correct drivers installed."<-I have retained Microsoft's spelling mistake since this is a direct quote Smiley Wink

This statement is important, as it lets you know that you didn't accidentally, turn it off to begin with.

See "How do I check if my PC has a touchscreen?" to see what the computer thinks. If it does show that you do have touch capability, try to calibrate your display see "How do I calibrate my pen and touch settings? " for instructions.

Cleaning your screen, is not bad idea if the driver looks in tact. If all else fails, a Hard Reset is another idea to try:
Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset

Let me know how that turns out. I look forward to your response.

Have checked everything through and all looks ok to me but TouchScreen still not working.

What do you suggest next?

If all other troubleshooting has not resolved the issue, I am starting to suspect a hardware failure of some nature. Before calling HP for your repair options, you can try to perform an HP System Recovery back to factory defaults to verify that it is just not a software issue: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 😎

If the Recovery fails, you can contact support for repair options:In North America, call (800)-474-6836 outside of North America find your support number here HP Technical Support
