Today i have found that when plugging the mouse in one of the USB ports on the right side .. it does not work but the mouse gives light .

I tried it on the USB Ports on the left side .. it works well ...

Good. You can try to reinstall Windows but I would only do that if the usb port works under Linux. Otherwise you are looking at replacing that daughterboard as Komdiv has helpfully laid out for you.

Try two things. 1. A hard reset. Remove battery and AC adapter and hold down power button 30 seconds (nothing happens I know)...now reassemble andf boot to BIOS (hold down F10) and reset to default settings. Now boot back into Windows. 2. Go into device manager and look for the usb root hub(s) and any other usb hubs in device manager...click advanced and you should see an option to reset...reset for all devices with that option. Now reboot. Let us know how that works.

If only one USB port stoped working, most likely this is hardwar related failure. One of the ports is bad.

In a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop both right USB ports located on a separate board (not motherboard). You can see these USB ports on the following picture in the lower right corner.

In order to fix this problem you'll have to replace the USB board.

It's necessary to disassemble the laptop and remove the top cover as it shown in the step 20.

After that you should be able to disconnect the failed USB board and replace it with a new one.

New USB boards available on eBay for less than $10. Here's a link to this part on eBay.

NOTE: do not take it apart if the laptop is still under warranty.

Are there any issues in device manager? Any exclamation marks or other problems? If only usb 3.0 devices work in the ports I am thinking it may be a problem with the ports.

HP Recommended

No .. there is not any exclamation marks in the device manager ...

These ports are the right ports .. but what i have noticed that when i plugged my mobile into the port .. it gives me that the mobile is charging but can not see the mobile device ..

I think if there is a problem in the port .. it will not work completely .......???

But i think if the port is not working it will not give a power ..

I tried to plug my mobile and it is already give me that it is charging ........

Not necesseraly. In some cases you can get power from a failed USB port.

Here's what you can try. Download live Linux OS (Ubuntu OS for example). Burn it on a CD/DVD.

Boot your laptop from that CD (I hope your laptop hardware supported). If it boots to the desktop, test failed USB ports in Ubuntu.

If failed USB port works in Ubuntu, but not in Windows, this is software related issue.

If failed USB port doesn't work in Ubuntu and Windows, this is hardware related issue. In this case you'll have to replace the USB board.

Agree with Komdiv. There can be damage to the data lead and not the power lead. There can also be damage to the usb 1.1/2.0 circuits and not the usb 3.0 circuits. The evidence is pointing toward a hardware problem with the port. The Linux thing is not a bad idea but I think very unlikely that port will work in Linux. Still if it behaves exactly the same, the diagnosis is certain.

I have Windows 7 ..   will this work ??

Also , i have found two options :

For extended support, For the latest features,

What shall i choose ??

Can i Boot from Flash memory ???

and if it is a software issue .. what will be the solution ????

Thank you for caring ...........
