Pavilion g7
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
Purchased a USB Recovery kit yesterday and received it today. I've tryed it four times and get the same results. BOOTMGR is missing. Would like a refund, or something that will get my laptop working. Calling seems to be a waist of time.

Hi:

If you can still read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on your notebook's case, you can make your own plain W7 installation media.

This site claims to have genuine, unadulterated W7 ISO files for download.

https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/67-microsoft-windows-iso-download-tool

Click on the link labeled Windows ISO Downloader.exe

You can use either the:

Win 7 Home Premium/Pro (as applicable) SP1 or the (Retail version, but the OEM key on your PC's case will work with it)

Win 7 Home Premium/Pro (as applicable) SP1 COEM (This version would be for what HP would have used--System Builder)

N is for European Union (EU) countries.

K is for South Korean markets.

You can use this tool to transfer the ISO file to a 4 GB USB flash drive or DVD.

This is a peer to peer forum.

You would need to contact HP for a refund of the recovery drive.  In the USA/Canada -- 1 800-474-6836

Stay on the line until the automated voice attendant connects you to a customer services rep.

Thanks Paul,
I was reading a few similar posts and found out about SP44645.exe.
I just replaced the hard drive so I thought I would give it a try. I will post my results.

You're very welcome.

I tryed to get a copy of Windows 7 from that site, they said my product key wouldn't work and I had to get it from HP.
I realized that my girlfriend has a working HP laptop so I'm going to have her make me a restore disk. I wish I would have thought of that before waisting my money with the HP recovery kit.

Hi:

What version of W7 do you need?

Home Premium 64 bit English?

Unless you girlfriend has the same model g7 as yours, the recovery disks she makes won't work on your model.

That is the one. I was hoping if the both use an Intell Core i3 that it might be close enough.

Here's the direct link to the W7 x64 English OEM ISO file.

https://software-download.microsoft.com/pr/Win7_HomePrem_SP1_English_COEM_x64.iso?t=61b9ce42-295d-49...

This file should work with the product key on your notebook.

You have 24 hours from the time I post the link to download the file.

Then use this tool to transfer the ISO file to a 4 GB flash drive or DVD to make the file bootable.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool

You can also burn the ISO file to a DVD using the Burn ISO image option on your DVD burning program.
