I have an Envy 17.3" (17-j178ca) and from day 1 (new out of the box)  I have had an unknown device.  It's hardware id is USB\VID_0483&PID_5740.  I can't figure out what this is, so I have no idea what driver to install to get it to work.  Anyone know?

Thanks, but that didn't work.  It said the computer doesn't have the hardware requirements.

ok sorry, I spoke too soon.  AFter installing all the chipset drivers, the ? went away, but then it reappeared after I reopened the device manager.  I removed the unknown device (hoping it would just readd it after I rescanned for hardware changes).  Well, it didn't.  What I did notice was my finger print scanner was no longer functional.  I re-installed the finger print validity drivers and still not functional.

ok, guess it's ok now.  The Unknown device is gone, I installed HP Simplepass (then uninstalled it), and the finger print sensor is working again as well.  Thanks agian!  Hopefully this is it.
