Hi,
How can I get my Validity Sensor Fingerprint Scanner to work in Linux?
The device is being detected.
lsusb:
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 138a:0050 Validity Sensors, Inc.
My OS information:
Kernel: 3.16.0-45-generic
OS: Elementary OS | Linux 3.16.0-45-generic #60~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 24 21:16:23 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Maybe it's too late for you, but just in case this can help other users:
- Try the following:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fingerprint/fingerprint-gui sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install libbsapi policykit-1-fingerprint-gui fingerprint-gui
More info in https://launchpad.net/~fingerprint/+archive/ubuntu/fingerprint-gui
This worked fine for me (HDX16, finger sensor Validity Sensors VFS101) in Linux Mint 17.3
If this fails, you can also try fingerprint (without gui) in the same PPA. Follow the instructions in http://tryitnw.blogspot.com.es/2013/02/easy-steps-to-enable-finger-print.html
Good luck!
