HP Pavilion DV6-3049tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have HP Pavilion DV6-3049tx laptop, currently running windows 10 pro. Before upgrading to Win 10, windows didn't show any compatibility issues. But once I upgraded to Win 10 64bit (first upgrade and later did refresh this pc), the fingerprint hardware is not working and hence windows hello too. Please help.

Hey @amols008,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv6-3049tx Notebook and having issues with the fingerprint sensor Validity Error. First thing I would check it enable biometric support in this document.

You could try to go to the  Control Panel, Programs, HP SimplePass

Scroll down to  Enroll Fingerprints.  Click and enroll your finger prints.  Deleted the old fingerprints in SimplePass and enrolled new ones.

If that does not help I would uninstall all the Simplepass software and download new for Windows 10. Here is a download for the Fingerprint scanner  sp71729.exe should work for you.

I hope this helps.

Thanks.

I had done WIndows 10 refresh earlier, sorry for mistake. Yesterday, I did clean install using USB ISO and it seems microsoft's driver works just fine. I am now able to use Windows Hello. Also, thanks for replying to my question. But the driver you suggested is not installing. It says, "AppHelp dialog canceled thus preventing the application from starting".snip.PNG

Hey @amols008,

What version of WIndows 10 Professional did you install? The compatibility would be for Windows 10 Home edition only.

Your original was Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and did not qualify for Windows 10 Professional unless you purchased it. The software is for Home only.

Thanks.

Hey @amols008,

Currently I do not have access for a download for Windows 10 Professional and Simplepass.

Try uninstalling the Software and drivers in the Device manager for the Biometric Validity sensors.

Then try  the Fingerprint scanner  sp71729.exe file.

I hope this helps.

Thanks.

Thanks a lot @ ! I really ddon't want to mess up fingerprint reader as it is behaving correctly. But in future would like to have HP's own drivers for such products. I appreacite all the help 🙂
