Hi,

You're welcome :generic:

I'd agree that doesn't sound like very good information.

As I mentioned, the Model you're thinking of purchasing is very similar to the one I'm currently using and it will definetely have 2 drive bays - actually all Envy 17, m7, dv7 etc Models have 2 drive bays.

One thing you should make certain of before purchasing, is that the Drive Caddy and Cable set required to install a HDD in the 2nd bay is available where you live - for example, if you're in the US, they're available Here.

Best regards,

Hi,

All Envy 17 notebooks have 2 HDD bays as does the machine you're thinking of purchasing - for reference, please see Pages 59/60 of the Maintenance & Service Guide.

Not all models have double HDD bay, it is also mentioned on the page you have referred to.

I have found from one source that this Model does not have dual HDD bay but want to confirm this.

Hi,

What Envy 17 models are you referring to that only have 1 HDD bay?

Name: ENVY 17

Model: j008eo

Product No: E3Z66EA

I am not saying that system has single HDD bay but looking to know if it has 1 or 2 because I have received different information from different sources and even in the product page it is written about Dual HDD select models.

Hi,

I know what you mean, however all Envy 17 Model have 2 available drive bays.  Depending on the Model, there may only be 1 Hard Drive actually installed, with the option to add an additional drive in the 2nd bay ( this will also require the purchase of a drive caddy and connecting cable ).

As an example, the machine I'm currently using is a Envy 17-j100cto which has two 1Tb hard drives, although there are very similar models that only come with one hard drive and the 2nd drive bay empty.

Thanks for the information now I am little confused as I was told by HP customer support hours ago that it has only one HDD and one bay if I want to install additional drive I need to remove DVD drive.

But I do not trust HP customer support as well as they had wrong information int the past.

Hello,

Just wanted to update here, You were right I purchased the system and received it yesterday it has 2 bays.

I and HP both were wrong, I just want to request HP to update their database and customer support information because both Live chat and Telephone support told me it only has one HDD bay and one HDD they even told me if I want to add additional HDD I need to remove DVD Rom and use its slot to add additional HDD or SSD.

I accepted your reply as solution.
