A client has a new laptop, in a business environment, we do not like having "extra" software on the devices.  Which of the following software applications can be removed?

HP Performance Advisor

HP Notifications

HP Jumpstart Launch

HP Software Setup

HP WorkWise

HP MAC Address Manager

HP JumpStart Bridge

Discover HP Touchpoint Manager

HP System Default Settings

HP Device Access Manager

HP SoftPaq Download Manager

HP ESU for Microsoft Windows 10

HP ePrint SW

HP JumpStart Apps

HP Hotkey Support

HP Support Solutions Framework

HP Registration Service

HP Sure Connect

HP 3D DriveGuard

Would appreciate a response.

Thanks

Jon

Hi, Jon:

Definitely not the following...

HP Hotkey Support -- controls the function keys.

HP 3D DriveGuard -- controls the accelerometer (parks the hard drive heads in case the notebook is accidentally bumped or dropped).

You can also explore the C:\drive, find and back up the SWSetup folder to a portable storage device, and then delete the folder.

The SWSetup folder contains the software and driver installation files for the PC.

The files in the folder are not needed for the PC to operate.  You only need them in order to reinstall a program or driver.

You can also do that from the support page for the notebook.

You'll probably gain at least 1 GB of drive space after you delete that folder.

I remove the following and do not have any issues.

HP Jump Start Apps, Bridge and Launcher

HP MAC Address Manager (used to keep the same address when laptop is in a Docking Station)

HP Device Manager (required removal to remove Client Security)

HP Client Security

HP Velocity (used for HP Thin Clients network optimization)

HP Connection Manager

HP Notifications

HP Documentation

In Short, I only keep

HP Hot Key Support

HP 3D DriveGuard

HP ESU for WIndows 10

HP Support Assitant

HP Softpaq Download Manager

HP Solutions Framework

HP Wireless Buttion Driver

Hope this helps the next person who Google it!

You never answered the question. I realize it is not to your interest nor HP with whom you work for, but it would be nice if someone asks a question, you should at least make an effort to answer. This is why you are there. You know when I read your answer, I laughed out loud. It could have been any other question and still give him that answer. Pretty funny. Did you at least read the question? Looks to me that you did not.

So much software on these HP Laptops that are just hogging the systems... I always remove as much as possible, I also remove HP Sure Click and HP Sure Connect. All these extra filter drivers in the system are unnessary. All these popups from all these apps and an End user has no idea what it is about.. They really should make an "I'm the expert config wizard" that then sets everything up and then NEVER bother the end user again.
