I need to replace my CMOS battery. My laptop is a HP G6. When I search the product number it comes up as a G6-1b60us. The only new CMOS replacement batteries I see listed on eBay are for HP G6-2000. Will that CMOS battery work for my HP? I see listed ones that are for HP G6-1000, but they are all used. Is that the one I have to buy? Thank you very much.

Hi,
You asked for CMOS battery. But the error 601 indicates it is the MAIN battery which powers your machine. Now pull it out, get part # and order one for your laptop. But before that, you can test using the following instructions.
Windows 7:
http://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c00821536
Windows 8 & 8.1
http://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c03325217
If failed, you have to buy new battery.
Regards.

Hi,
Part number is : 449137-001 as shown on page 49 of the second manual on the following link:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-g6-Notebook-PC-series/5082228/model/5128909/manuals/
You can buy from HP or:

(Actually it is a CR2032 battery).
Regards.

Thank you very much for your response banhien. When I start up my laptop, I'm getting a message saying the Primary (internal) battery 601 may need to be replaced. Are you sure the 449137-001 is the piece I need?
I also noticed that there are two pieces in my laptop that look like a CMOS battery. There is one that is visible as soon as I open the laptop up and it is right next to the hard drive. Then there is another one that is connected to the motherboard. Do you know which one has to be replaced?
