HP ENVY 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Have tried to connect to a TV from my Envy 15  through a Microsoft display adapter but only get a black screen when connected.

Envy product num is L0L25PA#ABG.

Microsoft display adaptor is model 1628 with new firmware of 1.3.8220.

Intel(R) WiDi ver 6.0.40.0.

The MS display adaptor has the latest Miracast driver ver 10.0.10240.16394  from Microsoft downloads.

The display adaptor brings up a ''ready to connect'' display at 1080P with black background.

After connecting, the notebook says it is ''connected to the MS display adaptor'' and the TV goes black.

This on the screen duplicate setting. The TV is getting some sort of signal from the WiDi but its not a "screen'' as with no signal the TV is blue.

So i'm ether not sending the correct data to the MS display adaptor or the adaptor is not translating it correctly.

The adaptor did accept an update to it via the WiDi which ran ok. All the display durring the update was on the notebook not the TV.

Can do all the right things on the TV with a HDMI cable.

Is there a fix for this or do I have to wait while MS, Intel, HP sort it out?

Windows 10 is fully updated.

The MS display adaptor was not tried on win 8.1.

NEXT DAY.

Have found an update to the Intel(r) HD Graphics 5500 driver. The Intel update checking application didn't pick this one up, I found it when checking the drivers in device manager.

I can now get a projection but it is a bit of and on about when it wants to work. Once it starts it is good, all be it with a slight flicker/jerkiness when showing video on the TV. It sometimes it takes a bit reseting and retrying to get it to start like at the moment, to the extent that I'm wondering if there is an intermitent hardware temperature related problem with the MS display adaptor.

Having found a reset button on the adaptor has helped.

Another next day.

I have found my problem is the TV  I use for my display, a cheap 32in Vivo that works great on HDMI cable. It is very fusy about whether it will recieve from the MS display adapter or not.

Everything is good when it goes but you cannot change projection modes etc without it dropping of and then once that happens it is very difficult to get it displaying again.

I found this out when I was able to try a Samsung that worked perfectly. Can switch modes, connect and disconect as much as I like with no problems.

Thanks for the help HP forum,

I hope this will help others who have a similar problem.

How do I say it's solved?

Hi, I am also facing the  same issue. Until yesterday, I was using windows 8.1 on my HP laptop (HP Envy 15- i7/ 8GB) and could connect seamlessly from the laptop to my miracast TV using wi-di. I upgraded to windows 10 yesterday and now though I am able to connect, the screen on TV just turns black while I get the message "connected" on the laptop. If I run a movie on my laptop to replicate it on TV, audio comes out of TV but the screen remains black (no display). I updated, intel graphic drivers (Intel graphics-4600) and also the wi-di software but still the same. Can you help ?
