Will an HP Elitebook 8570w fit onto a A7e32AA 90W Docking Station?

Hello,

I was wondering if is possible to hook my Elitebook 8570w to a A7e32AA Docking Station. In the description on the HP support website (http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product/sku/10432926\) it says that the 8570p does work on it.  

And I read that the 8570p and 8570w have the same docking connector (evident from other available docking stations that work for both of these laptops).

Can anyone confirm or disprove this?

Thanks for your quick reply banhien.

Do you perhaps know if the docking station HSTNN-I11X will do the trick as well? I can't seem to find the product on the HP support website, but its part number is 575324-002.  I have read from other sources that it does support the 8570w, except for USB 3.0 devices.

It's a 90W Docking Station; will that be enough to supply my  8570w?

Thanks again for your response. At the moment I have a 150W AC power adapter (that came originally with the Elitebook). Say I bought a HSTNN-I11X that comes with a 90W power adapter. 

Would it be possible to use my own 150W power adapter instead to suffice for the power supply? These docking stations (in general) aren't limited to any sort of maximum power supply are they?

Hi,

For power supplies, given they have SAME connectors, same voltage (or 5% plus/minus) the one which has higher wattage (ie Ah) is much better.

I found the following specs:

The HSTNN-I11X docking station adapter:

• AC input voltage:100 ~ 240V 50~ 60Hz
• DC output voltage:19V
• DC output current:4.74A
• Power:90W
• Connector size:7.4 x 5.0mm

The Elitebook 8570w adapter:

• Input: 100-240V, 50-60Hz~1.5A
• Output: 19.5V 7.7A 7.4mm*5.0mm

My question: will it work?

Hi,

Maybe you read the information in the wrong way, but the way I see it is that I can replace the 90W power adapter of the docking station by the 150W power adapter of my laptop. In this way the docking station will supply the same power as it would have done with just the power adapter of the laptop.

Since the connector of the power adapter of the laptop fits the docking station and its voltage differs less than 5%, I don't really understand what you mean with your reply. Could you please elaborate?

Sorry. If you wish to use 150W PSU for the docking station then no problem but if you wish to use 90W PSU for your machine (which needs 150W) then 90W can't drive your machine as designed.
