Try leaving the computer all day and shut it down before you turn in at night and see if that was the issue. I feel it is more than that. I did the reverse on my system updated fron 9x to 11x and found for three days my system shut down at the end of the day fine, But guess what last night hung again at shut down. Had to hold the on-off switch for a couple of seconds to shut down ,what I have been doing for almost 4 weeks. Restarted my system this morning and had issues. Had to restart to get everything working again. It is definatelly an operating system problem. Typical with udated opt systems. Good luck

Hi

Have you tried making sure your WIFI card is not being disabled by Windows ( Power options ) ?

To check this  goto Control panel >> System >>  in the left pane you will see  Device Manager >> Select Device Manager>>

scroll down to where you will see  Network Adapters >> Double left click Network Adapters >> You will now see your  Ethernet  Controller and your WIFI Adapter >>> Right click WIFI adapter and choose Properties >> Once WIFI propeties opens along the top pane you will see Power Managment >>>> Click Power Managment and make sure that  Allow computer to turn off this device is UNCHECKED and click ok .   Close Device Manager and monitor to see if your connection ( WIFI ) remains stable even after sleep mode re-activation.

I had this problem in Windows 8.1 and also Windows 10 where the machine would attempt to shutdown but restart staright away nor would the machine go into sleep mode . After applying the fix above the shutdown and sleep process was corrected.

           This has helped several people

allot of these solutions due work do work for a time. But the bottom line is it is an opeateing system problem. do a reset of your laptop. then reinstall your apps and programs that you need slowly. it does a fresh install of windows, thats what I did and it finally solved my problem.

I have an HP pavilion 15-n004 energy star note book which usually shuts down ok but doesn't do so ALWAYS, like a few minutes ago. I thought that I had the problen licked when I downloaded MEI v 9.5 driver from the HP website but fate has intervened and is playing games again.

I had no problems with windows 8.1 but since I installed windows 10 my PC has been having the occasional tizzy - not

shutting down properly and also waking-up problem.

I have a Pavillion 15T-n200 and I am having this same problem.  I tried the checking the two boxes on the wireless and wired controllers (mine are Realtek) and that did not work.  I tried installing the IMEI v9.5.  The setup told me that my laptop did not meet the minimum requirements and will not install.  I already uninstalled IMEI v. 11.  Have I messed up my computer now because of that, and is there anything else I can try?

You should probably download IME from hp's website support.hp.com/en-us/drivers and if you are facing some serious problem then you should restore your computer to a previos date and/or contact hp tech support via hp support assistant if your laptop is still in warranty.

Microsoft tech fixed this for me today. It is the "Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260" Network adapter settings.

Right click on the start button

Click "Device Manager"

Click "Network adapters"

Click "Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260"

Click on the Power Management Tab

The top 2 "allow" boxes should be checked.

Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

Allow this device to wake the computer

The indented box should be unchecked

THANK YOU!!  This worked for me.
