Again guy, update IMEI driver is the best, but what when HP is not doing nothing for 2 years.... Since 25-Oct-2013

Firstly, thank you so much for the advice about the Intel Management Engine Interface driver. I've followed this and low and behold IT WORKS. It works after two hours of operation which is much longer than just after a restart so the problem is solved.

I contacted HP Support chat earlier who didn't believe me when I said I need to find the V.9.xx driver but they did it anyway. I was told that they have the researchers on this problem and have still drawn a blank. Do they not read these forums? I am going to chat to them in the morning when they re-open and let them know of the developments.

Thanks again whoever worked it out. You're a hard-drive saver for sure.

After looking at the drivers available for download on the HP Support site, I found an IMEI that the latest version was September 23, 2015, I installed it successfully, now I'll have to see if it will work. Will post an update.

It's working, at least for now, I'll let you guys know if it starts acting up again. BTW, I have a Pavilion.

The problem is certainly with the IMEI driver. If you have version 11 then roll it back to version 9.5 and this solves the problem once and for all without having to make a shutdown shortcut. If you don't roll it back, your machine will shutdown within an hour or so of restarting but not if longer.

I have installed the IME version 11.0.0.1156.   My observations so far are if I shutdown and don't get any message that some program is preventing shutdown, the unit powers off correctly.   If I do get one of those messages when I shut down, then the unit does not power down.   Will need to keep up the observations to see if this is consistent over time.

I had the exact situation and expect Microsoft to come up with a patch asap. My HP laptop does not shut completely its almost in the sleep mode but would not shut dow. I too searched the web and youtube nothing worked for me.
