Hi,

First I've got one request. Could you check update history of your Windows 7 and post here what kind of updates were made since you had this problem. If you don't know how to do it check below guide:

How to View Windows Update History Details in Windows 7

You may try to uninstall this updates and check is this problem solved.

How to Uninstall a Windows Update in Windows 7

If above solution will not work then restore your system to point were you weren't having this problem. Check below guide how to do it:

Hello,

Thank you very much for the quick reply!

I couldn't restore my system, because the system protection was turned off. I think it was turned off by default during Windows 7 installation. As a result, I didn't have any system restore points to restore to. So, I couldn't try your second solution. I have now turned the system protection on.

As suggested in your first solution, I uninstalled "all" the Windows 7 updates. I uninstalled and installed 'Microsoft ACPI compliant Control Method' in Device Manager again. Still, Windows 7 shows that my battery is not charging beyond 11%! So, now I wonder if Windows updates were still the problem.

Yesterday evening, I removed the external power source from the laptop and allowed my 11% battery to be completely drained. Then with the computer turned off (therefore, windows not running), I plugged in the power source. Surprisingly, the battery charged fully and on the next start up it showed me 100%.

I allowed it to drain again 0% and now in windows it is showing me that it is charging and upto 100%. Strange! So, as of now the problem seems to be solved. I will keep you updated in future.

One more thing. My dv2046TU came with Windows XP installed in it and I have never done a BIOS upgrade since. Do you think upgrading my BIOS would be a better thing to do. If so, can you please let me know which update I should use and how to apply it?

Thanks a ton!

Hi

I'm unable to MODIFY my screen brightness. I've read & FOLLOWED all the other blogs pertaining issues posted about modifying screen brightness, but still have failed to make my FN+F7 / F8 buttons work. Its been extremely frustrating cz i'm used to operating at only low brightness.

I've updated my DV2395 from Vista to Windows7 ULTIMATE, considering my hardware being a 32bit OS, i've done all necessary updates - as posted on the "Guidelines for dv2XXX updates to Win7" as well as the other posts that have resolved brightness issues, but unfortunately they were posted ONLY for 64 bit OS's - hence don't work on my system (I've tried both the Intel Chipset updates as well as the QuickLaunch Buttons updates for 7)

SOMEONE / ANYONE please help me out! Send me a direct link download if it exists!

Hi,

Shut down Windows completely. And then charge your battery overnight with the computer turned off.

If there is really some Windows related problem, then without Windows the battery should be able to charge to 100%. And,

the next time you switch on windows you won't get 'replace your battery' message.

If this does not work, then may be your computer is having some other problem e.g. battery is dead and needs replacement with a new one.

Hi,

Few users which have ALPS touchpad already informed me in this topic about this problem.

Uninstall your current driver and install vista driver for your model.

This should solve problem with jumping cursor.

PS.

I will add this information to guide.

Hi again,

All Bios updates for your specific model you will find here. F.39 is latest one.

How to upgrade Bios?

Plug Your ac adapter to the computer.

Disconnect from the internet. Switch off any antivirus and firewall.

Then execute the Bios Update exe. It may take some time. Its gonna show the installed version and the updated version. Don't switch off Your laptop, don't disconnect ac and don't do anything on it when this update is running.

Bios update is CRITICAL so be careful, have full patience. Remember to then this step is always very risky and may corrupt Your notebook. You will do this at your own risk. I don't take any responsibility for any problems.

Bios updates to which I gave you link are all made for Vista. According to reports from users they are working under Windows 7 too, however I recommend to do it only under Vista.

Will upgrading change anything? You may check every update to see what kind of things will be changed / fixed. If with your laptop everything is ok then leave it as it is.
