I tried to update my dv2700 to windows 7 and it did partially work for a while. I did load all the drivers supplied here and they worked a little better than the generic drivers supplied by Microsoft. I could never get the external video ports to work or get the mouse pad sensitivity to work. The processor seemed to run at full speed all the time and created a lot of heat which is what I suspect led to the video failing. Due to the lack of HP support for W7 I was in the process of moving back to Vista when the laptop died. This was not that old of a laptop. I checked with Dell and they were supporting laptops of this vintage for W7, so my next laptop is a Dell.

First thing is you don't really need to update the BIOS unless you are having problems that a BIOS update might fix. Second, even though the BIOS updates say for XP or Vista they should also install in Windows 7.

DV2000- DV2132EA
I found Windows XP F11 BIOS BEST FOR WIN 7 UPGRADE......IT ALSO HELPED TO KEEP THE TEMP TO OPTIMAL LEVEL AND PERFORMANCE. YOU CAN TRY IT TO......I TRIED ALL BIOS VERSION FOR XP AND VISTA BUT EXPERIENCED INCREASING TEMP DESPITE EVERY OTHER EFFORTS.......
THANKS

One thing that helped with temps on a DV2000 series that I upgraded to Windows 7 was doing a manual Windows Update check and chose to also get optional updates. The Nvidia graphics driver it installed dropped my temps.
