Windows 8.1 Fingerprint Sensor Driver not working

I also need help with fingertprint scan.  Used to work fine wiht Windows 8 - when Iupgraded to 8.1 it stopped working.  HP walked me through updating the drivers (several times) now they want me to restore to Windows 8 (not going to do so since I have LOTs software to reinstall).

Any help here to get it wotrking is appreciated much.

Hi, I have the problem and uninstall Validity Sensors and download again.  Now I need to reinstall Simple Pass, but I can't find it in HP Homepage.

My PC is Envy dv7, Windows 8.1, Product # is B6B77AV

Hi all I am also having trouble with finger print reader after updating from Windows 8 to 8.1. I updated driver from the Device Manager, I have not been able to install simple pass correctly. I have gone to account> sign in options> Finger print option is there but I recieve an error when trying to register a new finger. I went to windows updates through troubleshooting options and installed a recommended hardware update. It actually got my finger print reader to turn on but now it still doesn't work. Did not find any enable or disable options in the configuaration manager through the bios. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same problem.  I have an HP Envy dv7 notebook, product number C2H74UAR#ABA.  I have loaded the latest drivers and reloaded the SimplePass software.  Any suggestions?  Thanks for any help.

Fix for me:
Remove the HP Simplepass software.

Install the Lenovo Fingerprint reader software for the same Validity Component from here:

Installing version 8 of the SimplePass software (sp64339) at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&softwareitem=ob-126956-1 got the fingerprint scanner working on Windows 8.1 for my EliteBook 6930p.

I tried the Validity drive in sp63798 and SimplePass in sp64339 and the  Windows 8.1 fingerprint scanner never detects my finger.  Neither does the SimplePass software.  This is on my EliteBook 8560p.

I tried all the suggestions in this post - nothing works - when I fire up the fingerprint scanner , it just hangs waiting for me to swipe my finger - which I am doing.  I see the light lit up but nothing ............  Windows 8.1
