? dono why you would address me with that, you have a completely different animal there than I have.

my question above you was to  rnenjee, for posting that AMD driver he said "worked", and left it at that.

Anyway seems HP is having cash flow problems per the news, seems they have a $5B fraud cost to write down, that seems strange since they are only worth $3.5B, which means they would have to sell. If that happens we all may be out of "support".

Or maye its a way for them to just end all the complaints, who knows, it will be interesting to see how things go. we all may end up having to go 3rd party ie leshcat in the future.

Sooo anybody with a dv6t-6xxx or dv7t-6xxx with the 7690m xt/intel gpu/apu try that driver sp59147 posted Nov 20th on notebook review? on W8?

It's cool I am sure Hoody like a lot of users are just frustrated by this situation.

I honestly doubt that HP will ever support any computers sold prior to October 1st 2011 for Windows 8 and hey I'm cool with that now.

If my post and experiances didn't help Hoody then I hope they can help another one of us Canucks up here with our crazy odd Ca models of HP notebooks.

Well Sarpedon80 I have no idea what was "cool" or not, but that small part of my post about me having a "different animal" was a referance to our "different" model laptops, nothing more. Maybe the English language gets confused here with some.

The rest was for that other guy above you that posted some AMD driver, that driver is only an AMD item, it doesn't have the intel driver part, and wouldn't work on its own with these switchable units.

I'm not gona get into anything else, the only reason I'm here is to find a driver for Windows 8, so I can install this thing I just paid MS for, other wise it was just a donation to MS, since I wouldn't need it for my next laptop which I will make sure HAS W8 installed and a "Gforce" gpu.

btw A lot of what gets posted as "fix's) doesn't work, there are way too many different models out here, and what works on one unit doesn't on another. I even find people with the same gpu/apu but different model laptops can't use the same drivers being posted that might work on the posters machine with the same gpu/apu.

So all this has to be taken with a grain of salt, and evaluated.

I'm old enough now to chill out on some post that refers to me personally, I've grown up since my old chat room battles lol.

Hi guys,

It seems that there was a simple miscommunication. Please keep in mind that when working with many people miscommunications are a common occurance. Seeing that this miscommunication has now been resolved it would be best to resume the original topic of this thread.

Thanks.

So, having no interest in reading the 45 pages worth of content here, is the current status of this situation that HP will/has released drivers for models bought on or after October 2011, and everybody else are basically stuffed?

I have an Envy 17 2050eo, bought in June 2011 and I don't understand how/why this computer is ineligible for Windows 8 drivers. Given its specs (and original price tag) I highly doubt this machine is already irrelevant.

I upgraded to Windows 8 and I got the Code 10 on the AMD drivers. One solution somebody on some other forum had was with the Leshcat drivers, but I can't install non WHQL certified drivers since then my Netflix would stop working.

Somebody in this thread advocated installing the generic 12.10 drivers from AMD, but apparently you'd need compatible drivers for Intel as well for switchable graphics. Is this true? What happens if I go ahead with it anyway?

AMD hardware IDs;

PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68A8&SUBSYS_159B103C&REV_00
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68A8&SUBSYS_159B103C
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68A8&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68A8&CC_0300

Intel hardware IDs;

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116&SUBSYS_159B103C&REV_09
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116&SUBSYS_159B103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116&CC_0300

Is my only recourse here really to just march down to the store for a new laptop, despite being only months away from the arbitrary Windows 8 driver update date?

Only good thing here is that I didn't spend money on that Care Pack extended warranty. Apparently HP wouldn't have cared for me anyway.

OK I am new to conversation here and I am really hoping that some one could help me out.  I have an hp envy 14t-1200.  With of course switchable graphics.  with amd radeon mobility 5xxx series.  I upgraded to windows 8 what is the best solution to fix my problem?  I honestly don't even care about switchable graphics i just always want to use the radeon.  My problem is when i try to dual screen with my laptop.  It didn't work until i installed my leshcat drivers but even then i get a black 1" border around my second monitor and have several issues when coming out of hybernation/sleep (as in i have to restart to get both monitors working).  So my questions are this, will my laptop ever be supported?  If not how do i get the leshcat drivers to work better or should i install intel and amd drivers seperatley or is my laptop just to old even though i got it a year and half ago.?

Well, to anyone this may help, here is my system and what I have done which is working for me with switchable Graphics and the Catalyst Control Center Software:

HP Pavilion dv6t-6b00 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC running Windows 8-64 Bit which was an upgrade from Windows 7.

Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000
Driver Provider: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
Driver Date: 8/15/2012
Driver Version: 9.0.0.0

Radeon(TM) HD 6490
Driver Provider: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
Driver Date: 8/15/2012
Driver Version: 9.0.0.0

I installed the AMD_Catalyst_12.11_Beta8 software which was downloaded directly from AMD. During the install process I used the new catalyst control center to uninstall all previous software. Once installed I went back to Device Manager, under display adapters, selected the Radeon HD graphics card, right clicked on it, and selected "update driver software". I then selected the option which automatically searches the internet for an updated driver which it finds an updates the Radeon graphics driver.

In fact, you can always update AMD driver while you have an Intel part (The Intel part should contains the switchable module) already installed. So you can install any working driver from HP and then update the AMD part to the latest driver which directly from AMD.
