Well, sp59850, appears to have installed flawlessly on my dv6t-6b00. It correctly identified the Intel HD 3000 graphics and the AMD Radeon HD 6490M without having to search for updated drivers as I had in the past. Switchable graphics are working.

I feel for everyone with unresolved issues on this. I know it dissapoints people to no end to have a rig not working correctly. who knew how difficult upgrading to Windows 8 it would be. I dont think microsoft has offered a OS upgrade with so little backwards compatibility ever. I'm hoping as time goes on AMD, HP, or a third party will offer a solution for most everyone. 😞

Thanks for sharing such sweet words
having known upgrading would be such a headache, I wouldn't have tried windows 8 at ALL, nor bought an HP to be honest

Re: [Drivers] HP dv6-4XXX / dv6-6XXX / dv7-5XXX / dv7-6XXX / ENVY 14-2XXX / ENVY 17-2XXX (INTEL)
Upon looking at SP59850, the Softpaq only supports some of the notebooks in this thread. Namely:
•HP Pavilion dv6-60XX / dv6-61XX series
•HP Pavilion dv7-60XX / dv7-61XX series
And...well, that's it. Furthermore, the Intel driver components found in this Softpaq are older than what the current release on the first post offers.
SP59147 (current HP release):
9.000.0.0000 (AMD Graphics)
9.17.10.2843 (Intel Switchable Graphics)
8.0.0.8808 (AMD HDMI Audio)
SP59850:
9.000.0.0000 (AMD Graphics)
9.17.10.2817 (Intel Switchable Graphics)
8.0.0.8808 (AMD HDMI Audio)

Also just that a driver says it works on a 7690m xt/Intel 3000 doesn't mean it will work on any model with that card setup. It seems that YOUR model has to be supported before the driver would work. Those other sp's may have that card setup, but the hardware ID's don't match up. I seen several people install one or more of these sp's because they seen their gpu mentioned only to find they don't work.
sp58788 does not work on my dv7t-6c00, I'm not sure about 59147, but some have tried it and it doesn't work either. Last contact I had with HP was to wait for sp59850, that it would work on my model.
Of course I still have a bit of apprehension because its still not listed on my driver download page. And the HP guy did say only way to be sure it was tested to work on your model was to see it listed for download on your models page.
This whole thing has gone crazy since W8.
