Hi everybody, after a while, i have installed cleanly for my g62-b16st, intel hd 3000 & ati hd5460 switchable graphics. and i've installed sp50704.exe with compatibility with win7. I've chosen everthing, ccc.exe, ati graphic card driver, hdmi driver also. And it works. I am writing with my hp windows 8 running with switcahble graphics. And i can use switch function, i checked it from dxdiag. The start-up time becomes very short. I hope everyone regains windows 8 with all features. Good luck, everybody.

Cross post from my new thread to see if it gets any attention here:
Hello everyone first I'd like to say I am new to the forums but I am by no means new to the world of computers or troubleshooting of hardware / software problems. Now then, I recently upgraded to Windows 8 Professional and have managed to get everything working except for the graphic card drivers.
I have read through the entire 64 page thread in regards to getting switchable graphics working on windows 8 and these are the things I have tried.
I have tried clean installing Windows 8 many times and performed the steps below numerous times without any success.
A. Installed the official Windows 8 graphic card driver provided on the HP website under my Laptop model (sp59850). During installation it does not recognize the graphic card and therefore only installs a few of the software settings not including the driver itself. My reason to believe why this is happening is because even though this graphic driver is listed under my model and says it supports the 6490M, the driver INF does not include my hardware ID. My hardware ID's are as follows:
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6760&SUBSYS_3581103C (AMD 6490M)
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116&SUBSYS_3581103C (Intel HD 3000)
B. I have tried installing the previous driver for my laptop model for Windows 7 64bit (SP55092). These drivers DO include my hardware ID's in the driver INF, however during installtion the package only manages to install everything BUT the graphic card drivers giving me the error:
AMD Display Driver
Final Status: Fail
Version of Item: 8.882.2.3000
Size: 90 Mbytes
C. I can manually install the AMD driver from the package 12.10 and instal the Intel driver from windows update and both card will function and show up properly in device manager. However in doing this the control center has no option for switchable graphics.
I have tried all of these things in both compatibility mode for windows 7 and run as administrator. It is also worth mentioning that unless I install the amd driver from the 12.10 mobility package, device manager shows my 6490m as a 7400m. I even went as far as going back to windows 7 and trying to install the package SP55092 just to make sure my graphic card was not broken and it did install correctly.
It boggles my mind why HP would list the new windows 8 driver under my laptop model saying it supports the 6490m when the driver itself does infact not include my hardware id's. there is one other person in the 64 page thread that has the exact same issue and has seen no solution.
Any help regarding this matter is much appreciated. Thanks in advance! Cheers.

Jeikr. as I have previously posted, kindly follow the steps accordingly... BUT before anything else go to HPs website first and look for windows 8 ATI package for your laptop and HP Support Framework...This is actually step 3. If you did see one, download it and follow the steps below if you don't then you are either to wait for a packaged release from HP or do as others suggested of installing it in compatibility mode.
Steps to get your ATI switchable graphics working on Windows 8
1. Uninstall HP Support Framework
2. Uninstall Intel HD and ATI you can find under Programs and Features
3. Download the lastest ATI packaged software from HP and HP Support Framework.
4. Install in this order - Install HP Sup Framework
5. Reboot PC
6. Install ATI
7. Reboot PC
8. Viola installation successful. Switching is working
PS:
Kindly click on KUDOS if this fixed your problem

You didnt post the model of your lappy so I am only guessing it based on your graphics card...
you need Windows 8 ATI package created by HP for your graphics card and latest HP Support Framework software to go with it and that should fix your problem. Reinstalling windows 8 wont do any good really.
Let me know the model the exact model and product ID of your laptop and country as well as sometimes it wont show up in the US site like mine its from NZ so I had to change countries just to find my lappys drivers etc

Hi, I have a HP Envy m6-1178sa notebook with Intel HD 4000 and AMD Radeon HD 7670M, both with the 8.982.10.6000 driver. Switchable does work for me, thankfully, but the AMD card doesn't appear to have the correct driver (even though it came preinstalled!), as it shows as 'Microsoft Basic Render Driver' in anywhere but the Device Manager. Does anyone know why this is happening?
Also, as for non-HP drivers, would the latest Catalyst work for me (including switchable "Enduro"), or would Leshcat be the best bet?
Thanks.
