I did find some Windows 8 drivers here. It seems to cover most of the important categories including switchable graphics.
There may not be a Windows 8 driver for every possible hardware configuration out there.

Also, try reflashing the BIOS using this.

Hi Cloud_Strider,
I had already installed that new BIOS driver, so that doesnt make the F10 key put me into the BIOS, I tried the F10 key using Function + F10 in other Windows programs and it works. Should I hit F10 only or Function + F10?
In any case, it looks like you are from HP, so it seems that this issue got the attention of HP. THAT IS GREAT NEWS!
So, do you guys have a fix, a new driver for the wireless adapter or F12 button? That is what all of us, the HP customers that bought the Pavilion DV7 are waiting for.

Yes I've had this same annoying problem a few times too, with my Compaq Presario CQ43
What seems to work is:
Plug in the power source (so the battery is charging), plug in an ethernet cable (so there's internet connection).
Now restart the computer.
Once the desktop screen has loaded again, press the wireless button, and now it should (magically!) be able to turn from orange to blue.
what a nightmare! but best of luck to everyone ...
