Hi, @JohnnyParc

The hardware ID you posted in your original screenshot is for the Qualcomm Atheros wifi adapter.

You need this W7 driver for it.

If it doesn't work, reinstall W7 and try it again because that is definitely the driver you need for that hardware ID.

@JohnnyParc

Thanks for your return,

Please try to uninstall all the drivers you have offered. Then, please use the driver below to install the wireless card driver.

This package contains the driver installation package for the Ralink Wireless LAN Controllers in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

The page below lists all the drivers and software for your computer.

I reinstalled win7 but nothing seems to work. I installed a usb wifi adapter and now trying with windows update. If this does not work, I'll have to install win10.

I don't understand why the Atheros driver doesn't work.

I take it that you also tried the old one from your notebook's support page?

Sure. So far I have tried all the drivers from the HP support page, those you have suggested, plus others I found online, but none worked.

Thanks for your return,

You can use the Microsoft Upgrade Tool to upgrade to Windows 10 with the latest version available below, without having to reinstall Windows completely.

What happens when you run the driver files?

Did you try manually installing the driver from the Network Controller device in the device manager?

To do that, go to the device manager, click on the wifi adapter needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the driver.

For the latest driver, browse to C:\SWSetup\sp70859.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and see if the driver installs that way.

I've already tried manual update with all the drivers but with no luck

Last update: Wifi works fine with win10. I reinstalled win7 and plugged a usb adapter. On win10 the wifi was recognized as dell wifi adapter. Still, I want to thank you for trying to help.
