Hi,

Somehow I fixed my problem and now I’m using Windows 8.1 and drivers:

Intel Video - 10.18.10.3316         1. October 2013

AMD - 13.152.1.9002      21 January 2014

Just for more info a day ago the HP Support Assistant recommend me to install new driver for Intel graphic card and after update the NB has the same problem can’t wake from sleep mode.

I fix the issue using OS restore point.

Hello,

I had the sleep/wakeup problem for 7 months. I am using Windows 7 x64. When ZBook goes to sleep it crashes and the next time it boots it starts as there was a windows crash which actually is the truth.
Since 1 month I have fixed the problem. Here is my scenario which is somehow the same as the previous described in this thread but some extra steps.

1. I uninstalled Intel and AMD drivers

2. Reebooted Windows

3. Installed latest drivers from HP support site for Intel and AMD. I used driver update, not the install process from the driver itself

4. Rebooted Windows

At this point the problem with sleep was still present 🙂

5. Downloaded from Intel support site the latest driver at that time - it was version 10.18.10.3540. I did a manual driver update (not the setup process)

6. Downloaded from AMD support site the latest driver at that time - it was version 13.352.1006.0. I did a manual driver update (not the setup process)

7. Rebooted Windows

Now I am happy with my ZBook because it sleeps everytime, it takes it 3-4 seconds to fall asleep.

After several weeks of normal operation I installed the complete AMD driver with catalyst software and again everything is working fine.

I have windows 8.1. My problem with Sleep mode is that I have no crashes but, simply, if I put the computer to sleep (either via software or using the power button) 9 out of 10 times instead of waking up it restarts.

Any advice on this? I tried the LAN/WAN switch in the BIOS, I tried to enable/disable hibernation with no success.

As there is no crash involved, could this be possibly  still related to graphics drivers???

Hi,

In my opinion the problem is related to the video drivers. I am 99% sure it is not a problem of the wireless. I worked for one week with a removed wireless card from the laptop and sleep problem was still present. It looks like the sleep problem behaves differently when used Windows 8 and Windows 7.

are you 100% sure that you don't have a crash?, I thought also that the computer was restarting, no crash, but found out that it actually crashed, it goes really fast, difficult to see, but you will find it in the eventlog if i remember correctly.

And is most probably due to the videcard drivers, install drivers as described previously, and you will see it will work.

Or disable sleep..

I would really like to use sleep, as I frequently have lots of tasks and applications opened that I need/like to resume instead of relaunch...

Hope old drivers get rid of this issue. Any other solution suggested?

On my Windows 7 x64 when I start a sleep procedure (button, or close lid or via start button) the screen becomes turned off (no image at all) and the status LEDs for power, HDD use, wireless and charging start to flash randomly, for lets say 10-15 seconds and then all LEDs turn off as the laptop is turned off (when in sleep mode the LED on power button and power status LED deem constantly). That's why I assume it crashes. I think it tries to go to sleep but crashes. Next power on is "Starting Windows" and a message "windows recovered from a crash".

Hi again, I can confirm that with the old Intel driver (3316) the Sleep problem disappeared.

I can put the PC to sleep either via the start menu or by pressing the power button.

So happy 🙂
Thanks for your suggestions!

PS: Still hope this will be fixed also in NEW drivers...

Yes, It's VERY annoying.. I don't have this machine anymore, I was just setting up and configuring it for one of our employees, and used about a week to find out about this mess.

Btw, i think I remember that this is solely the ATI/AMD graphicscard that is the problem, not the intel, I not sure now, but I think we upgraded the intel drivers without any problem after we finally stabilised the system.

And i see that on the driverdownload page, there is still no new driver for the ATI card, and there is no mentions of new firmware updates in the latest bios update..  (In old days, 2001ish, Dell had various issues with display cards, and the firmware for those came with bios upgrades, I guess HP will do the same, but not sure yet.)

i've got the same problem

after last installing all updates by softpaq manager, computer restarts after waking up from sleep mode - crash exactly

i uninstall all amd and inter graphic drivers, sleep mode ok

i install last intel driver - from hp driver zbook 14 site and still everythink ok

but after install amd driver (from same site) problem occurs - sleep mode not working, system crashed

so i again uninstall amd driver and no problem with sleep mode

i bought this notebook due to firepro graphic card and it was mistake - doesnt work good, really i waste a lot of money

is this normal for hp doing this to customers? making mobile workstation total unusable for working,  abandon users to trying install/uninstall, searching for solutions ?

and this is not all about this  fine product, but maybe in another thread
