Having recently received an HP ZBook 15 I was going over the system when I discovered odd behavior that I am now trying to correct. This ZBook 15 has i7 with Intel Graphics as well as a Nvidia quadro K2100M board (the i7 graphics have 512M of video Ram and the Nvidia has 2G of video Ram). I want to use the more advanced Nvidia board on the primary laptop display and cannot seem to configure this as such (my past HP Elitebook Mobile Workstations have always allowed this). Additionally, the docking station (not the advanced version) will not allow dual displays with this new ZBook where all my other HP laptops do (8440w for example). Please assist as this seems extremely "lame" (for lack of a better term) to buy a high end laptop and not be able to use the advanced graphics adaptor. I am using Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64 as an operating system on this and have installed all the "latest" drivers from the HP Support Site (as well as all the latest Windows updates).
P.S. This thread has been moevd from Business PCs - Compaq, Elite, Pro to Notebook - HP ProBook, EliteBook, Compaq, Slate/Tablet PC, Armada, LTE. - Hp Forum Moderator

All of that has been done - I cannot leverage the Nvidia Graphics Board (K2100M) on the Primary display. Talked to HP they did the proverbial "is it turned on" script. So I reinstalled, reset BIOS, enable from Auto Mode to Enabled Mode the Hybrid Graphics, etc... None of this resolved the issue.
Installation of the Operating System was a "clean install", all Windows updates and HP updates applied (and yes for this specific platform and this specific Operating System).
When this unit is "standalone" i.e. "no docking station" - I cannot leverage the Nvidia graphics.

Steven-Goodman

Tried (for grins only) wouldn't let me assign the primary display to the NVidia board. It is set in auto now. If I disable/uninstall the drivers for the Intel HD 4600 graphics the NVidia control panel won't even open.

Please install the new Drivers from first posting

OK - I removed all the old drivers, rebooted and installed all the new drivers and rebooted.
Same issue - cannot leverage the NVidia Quadro K2100M board for the primary display.
In fact the new NVidia software added an icon that the HP version did not (3D stuff) and when I "clicked" on this icon the error message stated that I could not use this software because the primary display is not on the K2100M board.
HP support has thrown the arms up, and sending out a technician to replace the NVidia Quadro K2100M board, apparently a "daughter board" and easily swapped. I am suspicious that what we really have here is an "engineering issue" which the ZBook 15 or a need for a new system BIOS that covers the hybrid graphics option appropriately.
There are other "posts" around that the ZBook 17 with the K3100M board shows similar problems and there is even a post indicating that HP received monies for NVidia to replace known bad "chipsets".

Lastly in the event HP reads these.
If we take what I can be billed out as, and multiply that by the hours spent on this issue - the cost of the time has exceeded the cost of this laptop. Support needs to "toss the scripts" and roll up their sleeves - can't treat all customers as if they have no technical skills.

Please change your Bios Setting
Adanced
Device Configurations
Video memory size
From 128 to 256 or 512 MB
Hybrid Graphics to Enable
Not bad Chipset, I think BIOS and UEFI problems
Please call the local HP Support and Submit a case
