im not sure if this is in the right area but i have a pavillon dv2-103p laptop with vista. a while back it stopped working past the startup menu.i've tried to restore it and it says that the restoration is complete however when i restart it nothing has changed. it now shows :
file: CLFS.SYS
status: 0xc00000e9
info: windows failed to load because a required file is missing, or corrupt.
i've tried everything to get it to work so any help would be great.
also im not that great computor smart....

Hi
You have a couple of options as I see it please try the steps & weblink given below might help you to fix your issue on your unit.
1) Please run the Hard drive & memory test and check if any test fails you need to replace the part.
Testing a Hard Disk using the Built in Self Test
2) If both the test passes you could use the F11 once unit is powered on and do a recovery before this kindly back up your data as it will be lost.
Restore the PC to its original condition using the f11 key
Let us know how it goes!

Hi
As i understand the Hard drive test has failed you need to replace the Hard drive on the unit and then reinstall OS back on the unit only then the unit will be to its working condition.
If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced.
If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know.
