I have a new work laptop and want to see if I can have dual monitors hooked up to it.  It's a 9470m that i use the ultraslim docking station with. Will this support Dual displays? I currently have one external monitor and use my laptop screen as the other monitor.  However i want a larger second screen rather than the small laptop screen.  I dont want two displays that have the same thing on them.  I need to be able to extend the display.

My IT department is telling me that this cant be done.  I am wondering if they just dont want to do it.  Not sure what else I need to post for someone to be able to answer so let me know.  Not tech savy so please include directions if you need more info.

thanks.

To the best of my knowledge, this unit appears to support a maximum of two monitors off the notebook alone.  This appears to be the case according to the newest post in this thread.

Hello ... I see that you got dual monitors to work with the 9470m.  That is more than I have been able to do.

Can you advise how you did that?

Thanks so much!

Hi Lillyc,

I understand you are looking for dual monitor guidance. The adapter has a latching display port connector on one end that connects to the graphics source and VGA connector on the other end for connecting to a VGA monitor cable. Here is a document on that. The section is HP display port VGA adapter is what you are looking for.

Here is a document on setting windows display properties.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I'm not sure what do I missed here but somehow 9470m with Intel HD 4000 graphics only can take 1x External monitor with either DisplayPort or VGA connector.

See the problem screenshot below from Windows 8.1 Update:

Let me know if I need to do something here to make it working ?

Thank you for choosing and using HP product and services.
