Upon re-boot, I get an error message that reads:" bluetooth software license not found". I have a pavilion dm4 1160-us  with windows 7 home premium 64-bit. The bluetooth doesn't work properly either. This started when I  reformatted the hard drive(blanked out the whole computer and started over by loading all of the back-up discs that came with it). I've been googling this for 3 weeks and have run across the same and similar problems and have tried new drivers, old drivers. re-loading the Broadcom 2070 software, and other suggestions and can't seem to figure it out. I'm not very computer savvy and don't know the first thing about bluetooth, but the computer works perfect except for this.            Help me before I start having nightmares please.

Hi,

Then try the same one from the drivers link:

Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 ►

You can uninstall the generic driver also. It'll automatically reinstall it.

Clean boot will only stop applications from starting as soon as you turn on the computer but it'll not disable the program. Internet will continue to work as normal.

For example if Yahoo Messenger or any other messenger pops up everytime you turn the computer ON then performing a  clean boot will only stop Yahoo messenger from coming up as soon as you turn it ON but will not disable it. But whenever you want to use it if you click ont he yahoo messenger icon it'll open and work as  normal.

The main  purpose of performing this step is prevent other programs from interfering during installation specially the anti-virus.Once bluetooth gets installed then you can go ahead and enable all the programs back.

Hi,

This problem usually gets fixed after uninstalling and reinstalling bluetooth software.Try doing it once again or try it in a different way..

First completely uninstall bluetooth software again from Control panel > Programs and Features.

Once uninstalled restart the notebook. Then reinstall it from this link:

Bluetooth with WiDi

If this doesnt work then perform a clean boot and then perform the uninstall and reinstall (This is to make sure that no other program is causing the problem)

Let me know what happens..

I'll give it a shot and get back.  Thankyou for your time

I uninstalled the bluetooth software, but I can't download the new software from that link. I get an error on the page

that says" cannot upgrade software" . I'm hesitant to try the clean boot if I don't have to because it seems a little over my head. Will a "clean boot" take me off line? If so ,I need to have already downloaded the new software ,right?

There seems to be a generic software that replaces the broadcom when it is uninstalled. Could this be a cause of some problems?

The error message is gone, thankyou!  The bluetooth still doesn't work but I'll deal with that later. I can get a device to "pair" with it but when I right-click on the device in "devices and printers" it doesn't show "tasks". I'm pretty sure that the proper software and drivers are installed now so it's probably something that I'm doing wrong.

Great..Cat Happy

For the second issue check if this helps. It should walk you through the correct steps:

Setting Up Bluetooth Connections with Windows 7

Let me know if it doesnt work..

I've just spent about 2 hours on this and went through the page item by item. My "bluetooth properties" does not have the share option or audio option.  If I remember right, I use to be able to right click on the device and go to a "tasks" pop-up that would give me options of what I wanted to do with the bluetooth. Also, it was tricky to pair the two.

The computer is not able to find the device until I hit OK on the device when the pairing number is shown.

(the computer doesn't have a pairing number yet because it still hasn't found the device). As soon as I hit Ok on the device, the computer "finds" it. Once the icon appears, then I can right click and add device. I'm sure you're thoroughly confused by now, but at least I'm not getting the error message anymore.

                                           I appreciate your time

Hi,

Just check one more thing. Go to Start > All Programs > HP Support Assistant.

In HP Support Assistant click on the Maintain option and then select Start Tune-Up. If there are any updates pending it'll show it as Important actions and Recommended actions. Complete the actions, restart and check bluetooth again.

If this also doesnt help then again Click on Start and type Windows Updates in the Start Search box. Click windows updates that comes up at the top. In the windows update screen click Check for updates on the left side and let it complete. After updates are done try bluetooth options again and check if any changes..

I haven't tried this yet but I honestly did not know this tune-up thing was even there so Kudos!  You've been a lot of help.
