Hi @lawraine

Welcome to the HP Forums!

It is a great way to engage, post questions and find resolutions by working with specialists in the HP community.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the battery charge is dropping very fast.

I’d love to help!

Follow below steps to fix this issue.

Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager.

Here is how you do it.

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.

If the issue persists, I recommend you to update the bios from the below link and check.

@lawraine

It looks like you were interacting with @The_Fossette, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,

I'm the Riddle_Decipher & I'm at your service.

It depends on how many applications you've got installed on your PC after it was purchased if you've installed required updates to prevent such issues,

Have you attempted to update the BIOS recently? if you haven't, simply click here to find and download the same.

That said, if the computer is under the 30 replacement policy from HP, you could always contact them and they'll help you with the same.

(This only applies to computers purchased directly from HP online store).

If the issue persists, after installing all available updates, I recommend you check with an alternate battery (if available).

Keep me posted 😉

@lawraine

Thank you for replying 😉

I appreciate your time and efforts,

Although, you haven't mentioned if you checked with an alternate battery and if you would be considering the warranty/policy I informed you about.

Keep me posted for further assistance 😉
