When I try to open just the camera, outside of chat, I get this message : "Warning. No webcam detected. Try plugging in a webcam into your computer now. If you are using an integrated camera, make sure that it is turned on."

Ok yep that's an error message. You may find that your issue is as simple as this video. (I apologize the link in my previous post was misdirected for this video.)
Youtube video "camera unplugged" fix.
Disclaimer: This is not an official HP procedure. All steps are at your own risk.
If it looks like it is already plugged in, take it completely out and plug it in again. Be sure that it is pushed in all the way. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, you could take it to a local repair shop. I'm required to include a disclaimer, but a lot of users have found this step helpful.

I have a HP dv6 laptop running windows 7.Is there any program that I can download that will let me make a video recording on the computer using the internal webcam? My webcam is listed in Device Manager as working properly and it does so using Skype. Thanks

Hello,
I have a HP EliteBook Folio 9480m with a built in webcam that I can visibly see - but I can't find it anywhere on my hard drive. I don't know much, but I have looked in my Divices & Printers and can't find it as well as tryed using the built in Cyber Link programme and Skype of which cannot find it.
Is anyone able to help?
Many thanks
